Hey I downloaded some skins and saved them in the 'Skins' folder. When I'm trying to change my skin ingame and select one of the downloaded skins ist just like the original osu skin and nothing changes. Can someone help me out?

Have you actually loaded them into osu, or just saved them in the folder?

Sometime, the real folder of the skin were inside the current folder, so you have to cut the real folder out.

I didn't understand what you did wrong, so here is the way to use skins :

Your skin is in .osk

- You have to use it like .osz (beatmaps), drag it in osu! or open it with osu!

Your skin is in .rar

- Open it
- Look in the folder inside to make sure it's the real folder (you must see the files of the skin)
 If it's okay extract it to your Skins directory in osu! folder.
 If you see just another folder, it's probably the one you have to extract (it will have the skin files)
- Restart osu! after extracting.

In case it still doesn't work

- make sure there's a skin.ini in the folder
- It may be a skin for a special mode like CtB
- uninstall/reinstall osu! (keep your songs folder)
- Buy a new PC
- If it still doesn't work, that means you are doomed. Sorry :(

I hope I helped you :)

Znation's methods are correct.

Did you do this, or just save the .osk file in your skin folder?

I think that the easiest things to use are beatmaps.
But there's nothing really hard to install in osu!...

If you extract them you have to restart osu!
