It has more to do with him quantizing it to the web216 palette instead of an optimized palette. All those random dots which DO NOT compress. png has nominally better compression than gif but has so many more options, it makes gif pretty much obsolete in every way.Ph0X wrote:

The only thing stopping APNG support from being added to WebKit is laziness. As soon as they get around to it, we'll finally be able to ditch GIF.

Ditched Vista. Can't tell much difference in terms of performance, but at least 7 looks aesthetically smoother.
It doesn't like ATI graphics. I'm using a Radeon 4890, though.

My rig is running Osu pretty poorly at the moment for some reason, I've tried a bunch of stuff to fix it, but I've only built the thing 2 days ago, so I'm sure I'll figure it out.
Scratch that, all it took was a reinstall of osu and it works fine now o.o.

and gif's aren't that hard to make. use any kind of animating or imaging program you want, and then just simply export->gif. even if you wanted to, you could convert video (i.e. avi)->gif.
also, is this thread some kind of speccy advertisement? lol
i actually love piriform--use both ccleaner and defraggler--just have no use for a speccy-like program.
