I propose that in the case of a mappers untimely demise, that all pending/graveyarded maps belonging to the person be available to be "claimed" by mutual friends. This gives a chance for maps they didnt get a chance to complete or get ranked to still shine and carry on their memory properly. Just think, it's the greatest respect to give a mapper to continue on their work that their efforts continue to create ranked maps from beyond the grave.

I don't believe it is inappropriate because many authors died before finishing books or novels and those were still finished by other writers, i consider this a similar situation.

The mutual friend thing can be easily feigned first of all, but perhaps admins can see if people are mutual friends idk. The idea of claiming seems morally wrong, because it's not yours (though probably it's just your wording and not your intention). I would be more inclined to say be available for use as a guest difficulty. Some mappers don't care too much and do allow other people do change and update their difficulties on mods, but you kind of need the mapper's permission first.

Unless the mapper is actually gone, which is an extremely rare circumstance, there is almost always a way to contact a mapper if they decided to stop playing osu! and to ask for permission or for whatever you need regarding their map. Technically speaking, if they are actually gone, it's still kind of wrong to just take their map and start applying mods on it, though I guess it's not a huge problem if you give credit and place a link to the original.

This seems more like common sense rather than needing a rule on it. Also, this has nothing to do with ranking criteria, and probably shouldn't even be here. So technically speaking, this can't even be a rule to begin with.
