Okay, for userpage, I'm pretty sure you can put anything as long as it doesn't break the rules.

^ or I don't support gender in profile at all, as someone who's genderqueer. Perhaps it doesn't have to be super specific--maybe simply Male/Female/Other (or the user themselves can enter in text for their gender)--if we're talking symbols, could be something like the trans* symbol for other.

Anyway there's really no reason for this either way IMO, since you can just add it in your userpage if you feel it's that important for other people to know your gender.
