Or, if the info which modpost gave the star is not stored, just link them to first post of certain user in the topic.

Oh this would be very nice.
At first, I wasn't sure if I would want this, but it does make sense and seems like it would be useful.
This is no longer valid since you don't give stars via posts anymore.
