why can't i change my avatar? (except 128x128)

umm... excuse me, i'm a newbie
why i can't change my avatar?
it says (128x128 / 88kb maximum)
it says OR "/"
if i resize my photo to 128 x 128, i can change,
'but, if i want to not resize it (the original photo) and i save as a new jpeg file ( lower the quality, let's just say i lower it for about 83.6kb)
when i upload it it says "invalid size"

i hope someone answered, and sorry for bad english!

It's not OR, it's AND. You have to fulfill the two conditions.

OT: the avatar photo has to be 128^2 and under the size limit. You can choose a image format that creates smaller files (jpg or jpeg are the ones typically used), and you have to resize the photo to be under or 128^2 pixels.
