There are such thing as people who "play for fun"...
Personally, I'm in the "play for improvement" camp, but I tend to switch between sorting options. I usually group by Collections and sort by difficulty or BPM, but sometimes I group by mode. Sometimes, I even sort by Date Added, so I can give the latest maps a try (I have every ranked map, and I keep my beatmap list up to date just by clicking everything in osu!direct, so it's hard to tell which are new or not). I also use "Sort by Artist" to find other difficulties when the other sort options separate the difficulties in one mapset from each other.
