osu!.exe doesn't start, all it does is throw this error:

Booooooooom!

An error has occurred.

System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid Boolean.
at System.Boolean.Parse(String value)
at osu.Graphics.SkinManager.LoadSkin()
at osu.GameBase.Initialize()
at Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game.Run()
at osu.Program.Main()

Latest version, tried removing osu!.exe and letting osume download it, but no go.

It worked perfectly well yesterday. Why is it not working?

It's extremely likely to be one of the skin's .ini files. Moving your skins out of your Skins folder should do the trick.
