Even this rule has been finalized about a year ago, it is true that not 100% agrees with this.Ranking Criteria wrote:
Do not alter the song's title. This includes adding any marker to describe the cut of the song such as "Short Ver.", "TV Size" and so forth unless those markers are part of the official song title as listed by a reputable source.
It is because they think using a same title for a different version or length of mp3 just because it wasn't officially provided will be confusing for players.
Recently a conflict regarding this rule has appeared, and I think we should think why this has appeared.
The current rule is quite brief, because we only have to use "what it has been proven from the official source". I think this has a point because arbitrary titles won't help in searching for the exact song.(I won't menion subjective term of official here)
However this leads to a contradictory problem that mappers would have to set the same title if there is no official source even the version of the song is apparently different. I also think this has got a point.

Already several discussions have been made regarding this issue.
Now, I think, what we need is a practical solution, and there are two kinds of it.
Example
This way, the additioal marker indicating the version or the length of the song wouldn't disturb the area of "Title", which can accord with the current ranking criteria because the title wouldn't be modified. This idea is for cases of additional suffix not being the actual title of a song. Editor

B. Or adding a total length of the song at the display of a forum could be a nice solution enough.
One of the current problem for non-suffix beatmap is that it is hard to know the exact length in glance. Adding the total length would be helpful enough for players.
