What do you wish a watch can do?

If a watch could do something if never could before, what would you want it to do? (I'm going to assume your watch can currently tell time correctly)

Reason I'm asking this
With the media giving a lot of attention to wearables, especially smart watches, one has to wonder what should a smart watch should be able to do. I know right now companies are implementing a lot of phone extensions and health features on smart watches, but I feel that there can be more ways we can the technology than just do what a phone + fitness band can. (Phones are admittedly making watches near obsolete except for the fact that watches can be fashionable and you can read the time off watches faster than you can whip out your phone)

Pretty sure all smartwatches will be able to do this because wifi and your phone can tell you what timezone your watch is in.

I'd wish for my watch to travel backwards and forwards in time, just think of the time and date and you're good to go ~

Talking about smart watches: there is a thing they could never do that regular watches will always do: last 2+ years with just a single button cell battery. My wish is that they could last as long as them.

Honestly, I never get the idea behind smartwatch or most wearables. It's just weird.

To answer bliss' question, summon a genie a reminder. I know that mobile phones already have reminder, but it functions like an alarm and my disturb people around. If it's a watch, it doesn't have to make sounds to remind us. A simple vibration will be enough because you will feel it. Yes, I do know phones can vibrate, but there are moments when you won't be able to feel it due to your clothes being to thick or something like that.

And a dwelling place for some sort of virtual assistant will be nice.

But I'm still waiting for Neuro Linker.

what I mean is that feature could be implemented on every watch not just smartwatch that looks expensive for a few people (making it basic things on every watch)

I wonder, is there a way for a watch to sense where it is on Earth without wifi or gps? Well if there is ever a way, it would be interesting.

@XPJ38: I also hope that battery life is good as well, but with battery technology not changing all that fast, I seriously doubt this will happen.

Summary of what I learned so far:

A smart watch is basically exactly like a smartphone with sensors that depend on skin contact (ex: heart rate monitor)
If you don't take advantage of those sensors and you are on a computer all day, smart watches are basically useless
Since watches are always on your wrist, they are a less intrusive way to display information, so if you are not the type of person to be on your smartphone/computer all day, then you can have a use case there.

As a result, there are 3 types of apps to go on a smartwatch:
1. An app that can advantage of a watch's unique sensors
2. A remote for the phone
3. A less intrusive way to display information from the phone.

Where to go from here, I'm not sure, but there are definitely some good ideas here.

Lasers. Why don't we have laser watches like James Bond yet? We're gonna get a phone with one first at this rate.

Lasers as a pointer, yes. Lasers as a weapon, while Americans do have the right to bear arms, I am scared as to how this will turn out.

I wish watches can have voice communication. You can connect to other watches nearby and communicate :)

Why would you need a voice communication if the person you want to talk with is near you?
