How can i make the background of my profile picture transparent? i used photoshop to get rid of the background with an alpha layer but it still comes out white on osu :/

Make sure you're saving your avatar as a .png file, otherwise the alpha channel will be ignored when you save it.
make new -> 128x128 resolution with 72 ppi and background content transparent -> crop your pict -> save as .png
