Shortened version of an already made beatmap?

Hello friends there is a song by Infected Mushroom called Sa'eed and after the first 3:35s I really like the song but before that it's kind of lame. There are already a couple of beatmaps out there for the full song but I was wondering how hard of a process would it be to make a shorter version of the song (I.E. 3:35-7:00*end of song*)

I was also wondering if it would be the use of a preexisting version of the song or if you'd have to make your own.

Yes, I hate the intro too, but you can't shorten or skip it without physically editing the song. You can edit it yourself and delete everything before that time, but then the game will see it as an unsubmitted map (which you should not submit btw), so you can pass it along to your friends and play it yourself, but it won't count for your score.
