I tend to stress my fingers and overload those to mange to play a map that I can't easily play. Will this way of practicing increase my physical ability or is tensing my fingers totally unnecessary?

No???

Tensing up just makes me slow, not fast. Or it's something that happens when a pattern is too difficult for me to read and/or too fast to hit.

You tend to stress your finger because you are not used to high sr density

Just keep trying until you get used to it

tensing up makes me faster, on 4k and 6k and 7k. im just taking a blind guess that its because i play wrist uo im fast, assuming youre wrist down like most people

So do you think this is a decent practice method? Try playing high density maps that I'm not used to(which causes my fingers to be tensed)?

you should be fine if you do that and play maps where you get high acc with no manip. SR doesnt matter really, SR sucks anyway, so play stuff where you dknt manip and get high acc along with tensing alot on hard uncomfortable stuff

Yea the way I practiced is by playing maps that exceed my limits.

Thanks for the reply. Do you also tense your fingers when you play maps that you can easily play btw?

I'm confused, am I not understanding something? Tensing up just means all your muscles are fighting against eachother, like trying to walk through mud or water. I'm not understanding how tensing up is supposed to help with speed, unless vibro.

Tense the hand, and then the fingers will be hard to move. Relax it, and the fingers move freely. Obviously there'll be tension when playing because muscles pull on bones, but apart from that, I dont see how tensing up helps.

Not at all. When you can read the notes, your fingers will move as you read. Don't worry practice makes perfect

Thx

tell me if you tense your fingers as hard as you can does it feel good? no? then try to avoid it

your fingers dont have a big muscle group and likely wont increase that much BUT your arms do they have a way bigger muscle group and so you should focus on improving those forearm muscles to increase your stamina and speed

to get rid of tensing ive been told that playing hard maps will make you learn not to tense on your average skill i forgot the why but it basically boils down to playing hard making the average maps seem easy and not tensing AS much

tensing a finger might be necessary for some kind of ability but id rather you consult your doctor about what that something is

personally, i've had my best improvement when I've been trying to push my physical limits of the game rice-wise.
ive had high-ranked friends tell me the same, tensing your fingers isnt necessary but if it helps you to play those maps better than without, i see no problem in doing it

edit:
but as pizzaboy said, the tension will go away as you gain more experience, have fun playing video game :3c
