Problem details:
After opening osu, I was logged out, my entire client reset, all my settings set to default and default skin, and when i get into song select, i got switched out of osu window, and when I opened it back all my beatmaps start refreshing from start. It started calculating difficulity for every beatmap, and all my local scores are gone. osu is hogging up 2 gb ram (never reached above like 500mb ever)
Now my main concern is the local scores being wiped, there is a repeated message saying Unable to read requested replay file one after the other. I panicked and immediately backed up
osu!/data/r folder since i dont want to lose my local scores.
I checked a lot of forum posts regarding this and they all suggested the first thing to do to remove scores.db file with random numbers next to it from osu folder while keeping osu client closed and then restarting osu , I did exactly that but nothing changed. I tried moving only scoredb but it stayed the same, with the same error message, osu hogging insane amount of ram, and calculating difficulity for 13000 maps. Now i dont care about the other stuff that much but I just want all my local scores and their replays back T-T
For extra info, I just played osu for almost an hour just 20 minutes before this incident happened, and this occured after a laptop restart after the last session.
2 weeks ago, I once accidentally clicked reset folder permissions but i have been playing daily with no issues after that day. But after this problem, I did check out for manually giving permissions to osu folder but all the permissions are enabled. My osu folder is stored in user/appdata/local. This is the first time this has happened to me.
the error is only showing up if i start osu after I move the scoredb file. the next time i open, there is no error but its not trying to open any local score replay files anymore.
