When I get a medal, it does show in my profile, but I don't get the medal in-game.

Are you getting to the result screen or just immediately closing the result screen to try and go to song select?
Can you attempt to get a medal, and if you do get a medal, quickly go into the osu! folder and navigate to the Logs folder and get the contents of the "runtime.log" and paste the contents in to here.

Medal display in client was broken for a bit because php is a superb intuitive programming language with descriptive method names. Anyways things should be fixed now, I tested on myself. If they're not please let me know (although I know it'll be difficult to tell if you don't get new medals - the previous ones won't show again).
