Its been like this for a while but for some reason I can't get as sore as I used to despite playing harder songs I really only feel pain if I overdo it and I'm wondering if this is a good thing or if im genuinely not improving?

For example I played this 6 minute chordjack I could barely do but despite going as hard and fast as I could I didn't feel much any burn even though I was fatiguing and losing speed as it went on

well it shouldn't.. hurt. it is odd that there is no burn at all though. has your improvement stagnated at all?

I don't think it's been long enough to say but I only progress on a scale noticeable by months instead of weeks so definitely way slower

Not sure where you got the idea that playing mania builds muscles. Train wrist & forearms directly if you want that.

If you ain't getting sore despite playing harder songs, then thats a sign of positive adaptation. Not a lack of progress or anything abnormal.

From memory, burning sensation is just lactic acid buildup. And as you adapt to an exercise, your lactate threshold improves. Basically, you can push muscle harder before getting a burning sensation..

As long as the muscles 'fast-twitch' fibers get fatigued, then the burning sensation doesnt matter.

i know im 5 digit and not 4 digit but hear me out ive been through similar so it might help

tldr: suck it up and play something just a little harder

so basically while i was at 3.8 star level i was only able to do 3.8 star songs and wouldnt comprehend being able to do 3.9s despite the fact i was 98% 3.8 stars consistently. the way i got outta the 3.8 star was by, after a month because of a holiday, just saying "fuck it im playing this 3.94 star and failing by getting like a 85%" but then i tried and in one attempt i got a 95% and was like "wow what the hell" amd grinding it and quickly my fingers started gaming. possible differences are that i was 6 digit then so my skill was more general and even though i didnt really play chordjack, which was the 3.94's star rating i still managed so maybe try a skillset ur weaker in idk tbh. i also took a break but i dont think it should be factored in. and of course we are in different situations with skill so i could be completely wrong but maybe this is helpful idk. thats all the possible differences i can think of, feel free to specify any differences :)
