Just like the last edition of BNL, we will be using the Brawl format again, where matches will be played in a 1v1v1v1 format. More information can be found down below. Registration phase
To register yourself for the tournament, please fill in the following registration form and join the tournament Discord server. Joining this Discord server is mandatory. You also must not have violated the osu! community rules in the past 12 months and you need to have the flag from one of the following six countries on your profile to be eligible for the tournament;
- Belgium
- The Netherlands
- Luxembourg
- Germany
- Switzerland
- Austria
Discord
After completing these steps, you will be registered for the tournament!
If by any chance, there are problems with your registration, we will contact you and provide further instructions.
Please note that if a player gets restricted and/or banned before or during the tournament, said player will not be allowed to participate and will immediately get disqualified with no exceptions.
Screening phase
As mentioned in the "Prizes" section, we plan to award the winner with a unique Profile Badge. To make this happen, this tournament must meet the requirement of sending the osu!staff a list of every player who signs up for this tournament to be screened for past or current violations of the osu!community rules. If you would like to read more about the screening process and profile badges, you can do that here. If in this screening phase, the osu!staff members find that you have violated the osu! community rules in the past 12 months, then we sadly will have to deny your participation in Brawl League 2025. All players found in violation after the screening will be given time to appeal their stance, and if the osu!staff changes their mind on a player's eligibility and notifies a host of this, then they will still be eligible for participation.
Qualifier stage
The Qualifier stage will be played in the first week of tournament play to eliminate the number of players down to a preferred number. If the amount of participants exceeds 32, everyone ranked worse than #32 in the Qualifier phase will be eliminated. If the number of participants is 32 or less, all players will advance.
This phase consists of 8 predetermined maps, each testing a different skillset in an attempt to accurately rank players in performance, and will be released approximately one week before the phase. Players will play all 8 maps once in a scheduled lobby. A referee will invite you 5 minutes before the scheduled time and will provide you with further instructions. There will be no warm-ups in the Qualifier stage, so please warm up before your lobby starts.
Player performances will be ranked according to the average rank of the player across all 8 maps. In case of a tie, the player with the higher total score will be on top. This means that you essentially will be playing against every other player in the tournament at this phase and not only the players in your lobby.
Brawl phase
The players will be divided into groups of 4 players. All players within that lobby will face each other in a 1v1v1v1 situation. For each map that will be played, players will get points depending on the placement on that map;
- First place: 4 points
- Second place: 3 points
- Third place: 2 points
- Fourth place: 1 point
- Note: The Last Chance map will earn players double points for their respective placements.
Players placing in the bottom two of the lower bracket will be eliminated from the tournament.
From week 3 and onwards, advancing players in the lower bracket have to play two matches per week.
At the end of week 5, a top 4 will be decided and thus also the champion of Brawl League 2025.
Mappool structure
Each brawl week consists of 17 maps where only a certain amount of maps will be replaced per week. Thus some maps may occur twice in a mappool throughout the tournament, but never thrice or more.
The pool is divided into 2 brackets. A High and a Low bracket. The High bracket is more difficult than the Low bracket thus allowing for a more diverse pool. The categories within this pool are;
- Rice (RC): Rice oriented maps with a large focus on normal notes.
- Long Note (LN): LN maps with a large focus on long notes.
- Hybrid (HB): A mix of normal and long notes.
- SV: Maps with multiple scroll velocities.
- Boss (BS): A singular 'boss rice' map, which introduces an extremely hard rice map that goes beyond the difficulty of the High bracket.
- Last Chance (LC): Last Chance is a long hybrid map, that will always be played at the end of the match whereas points will be doubled.
Match procedure
- A referee will create a multiplayer room 10 minutes in advance. Players must gather during this period.
- The room settings are Mania, Head-to-head, ScoreV2.
- The room name must be "BL25".
- There will be no warm-ups, so please warm up before your lobby starts.
- Each player must use "!roll" once in #multiplayer. The order of the protects, bans, and picks for each player is decided by the rolls whereas the highest roll being player 1 and the lowest player 4;
Player 1 protects, Player 2 protects, Player 3 protects, Player 4 protects,
Player 4 bans, Player 3 bans, Player 2 bans, Player 1 bans,
Player 1 picks, Player 2 picks, Player 3 picks, Player 4 picks,
Player 4 picks, Player 3 picks, Player 2 picks, Player 1 picks,
LC map gets picked.
Thus each player has 1 protect, 1 ban and 2 picks. - In case of a player not showing up to the match, the referee will randomly (using !roll) protect, ban and select the map. The point distribution will not change.
- 8 maps will be played (2 picks by each player) and 1 tiebreaker.
- Tiebreaker will always be played after all 8 maps have been played.
- Players are allowed to add No Fail, Mirror, Hidden, Fade In and/or Flashlight.
Additional Rules
The tournament hosts are responsible for scheduling all matches and informing players of when they are scheduled to play. If a player is unhappy with when they are scheduled by the hosts to play, they have the option to reschedule their match as late as the end of Thursday of the week before the weekend of their match. Instructions on how to do so will be provided in the discord server.
Please note that the organizers will try to schedule all matches for the best possible time for all players. If no referee is available to referee a match, the match shall be delayed.
If no streamers are available to broadcast the match, the match will still happen without being broadcasted.
If no commentators are available to commentate the match but broadcasters are available to broadcast the match, the match will still be broadcasted but without commentary.
Please note that while we will try to broadcast every match, we may be unable to due to overlapping matches and/or lack of streamer availability. Rescheduled matches will be prioritized under non-rescheduled matches in terms of being broadcasted.
Each respective phase of the tournament is to be completed in a single weekend, using the same mappool for the entire weekend. Weekday matches are allowed if all players agree to them and they take place before the weekend of that scheduled phase. As aforementioned, mappools will be released roughly a week before the phase they are to be played on. The latest a map in a released mappool may be slightly updated (for example, as to fixing a notable timing or snapping issue) is by 23:59 UTC+2 on the Monday after the mappool is released.
Repeated and excessive toxic behavior toward any staff member, player, or spectator either in match multiplayer chatroom, the official discord server, or the official twitch channel chatroom is strictly prohibited and will lead to, in successive order with the host’s discretion to skip certain steps:
- Warning.
- Disallowed from playing in the next map (Thus the player get 0 points and if its their pick, their pick will be randomized).
- Official ban from the tournament as well as a ban from the official discord server and twitch channel.
