Personally, i use OSU as my background music player, i just have it running in the background playing music. I use it instead of Spotify because no ads.

I only use it as a background music player if I don't have internet or I am out.
Though I figured out I can just connect a usb to my pc and phone, then transfer specific songs on to my phone.
Surprisingly time consuming though.
