It has been long time that I want to mention about rating for a beatmap could be rework to old Pixiv did.

We still rate 1-10, but from web or in game can show the total scores the map got.

As a mapper, sometimes I see some new mappers are glad they finally get their maps qualified/ranked, but see there's a 1 point(red part) for their maps. It made them get frustred. I often think it is not a good way to encouraging a mapper keep mapping.

While we add this change, we can also add options like rating>1000(like if 100 people rated 10 points for the map) to search much better maps.

Doesn't it feel much better? :D

Yeah rating feels like an underutilised feature since as a lazer user I kinda forgot it even existed (you can't rate maps on lazer, maybe they're planning to remove it later on?). Anyways looking at how users have rated recently ranked beatmap I'd like to also suggest removing the 1-10 scale since most seem to rate maps either as 1 or 10, to "I don't like this map" or "I like this map".

Yes, people use rating in this way for very long time, like, "I love this map/song, absolutely 10/10", "The map designing is bad, 1/10". We know it is subjective but that doesn't help to the community and encouraging mappers to get more motivations on mapping and improving maps.

I agree but I also fail to see how your idea would change the behaviour of players. One way to encourage mappers could come from outside the ratings through real written feedback, which users interested enough already do in my mind.

Well, it's just a simple idea from my thought. Just try not to make the rating show in the way of emphasizing "negative/positive" to frustrated mappers.

Rating is just an additional function, just let it back to how it should be.

I would prefer to make it to be the way of having scores/points simply because it is similar to subscribe/being added as a friend. People sometimes enjoy of farming numbers of that, we may be able to see people would like to make their maps with higher points and try to make their maps to be better or push it to more people for let people see that and rate it.

Besides, we may can see stuffs like someone's map has over 100000 points and people cheer for that.

For the way of encouraging mappers, mostly people do writing feedback in map discussion or comment section. It may be enough. Just hope not to make rating function to be more useless than before since no one actually care about it nowadays but only get mad when see people giving 1/10.

Yeah I get that. As for letting it back to how it should be I have been around for way less than you so I can't say anything about that.

I think the favorite points currently fill a similiar purpose. I often lead people to my favorites if they are asking for map recommendations.

For a function that no one actually cares about oddly enough you're still hanging to it. I still stand by my suggestion of simplifying the ratings if possible or just removing them.

Actually I feel the function is almost abandoned. I rarely use it too. It's why I think of way of reworking for the function and feel definitely better then current using way.
