no matter where i search i can't find an answer, i don't know where to ask, i hope this is the right place. basically i'm scared they'll glitch and earrape me and ill go deaf

that's literally it lol

i know there are built in limits and stuff but we're talking about glitches, in the case i am imagining, that's been bypassed and my ears exploded

same with my computer speakers sometimes or off topic, just tech in general as if it'll explode in my hand or face and oh no... i just made it worse, what about headphones? what if they explode on my head? can they?

wtf is wrong with me help

nah, youre just paranoid, most electronics wont explode in any meaningful way, its the stuff with big batteries that you have to look out for, and even then companies spend a lot of money making sure that doesnt happen to their customers, so i guess don't get bluetooth if it makes you more comfortable about that.

generally if a speaker/earphone/headphone does blow out it's not explosive and you'd have to intentionally have the volume and power(volts/amps whatever idk) way higher than its rated to cause that, and most people don't have the hardware to drive any kind of speakers that hard. Basically, you'd be hurting your ears already, it burning out would stop the damage if anything as it makes the noise quieter.

if most headphones could hurt you like that there would be more stories about it happening - like with the batteries in phones catching fire.

though most people do listen at volumes that will eventually cause hearing loss, so consider keeping the volume lower than you think you need it.

people already have enough trouble trying to increase the volume when headphones are too quiet on max. you can't really do it accidentally. bluetooth headphones can sometimes glitch and change volume when they disconnect and reconnect themselves, not to a dangerous level but you may want to avoid them just because it might trigger your anxiety. However, you wouldn't use those for rhythm games anyways due to the latency.

Pretty rare experience, if you're concerned just buy something that has guaranteed quality.

The only time I've ever been earraped is beacuse my computer crashes and the distorted noises from the laptop at the time are loud as fuck. I really don't think you need to worry so long as you don't crash.

thank you all and especially wither, i don't really know what to say at this point, i'm not going to transition into using headphones since it's been so long but i did use em for a bit and felt alright

(i was asking incase i do and mostly so i wouldn't be afraid of them, it's still a problem but it's much better now)

they're wired btw so that's good

this reminded me of something which could be the root cause of me thinking like this, sometimes when the wii crashes it makes a loud and scary noise (and doesn't stop until you deal with it... uh oh) and apparently when i was a toddler i'd cry and run away from it lol
growing up i was extremely scared of errors and such

kinda over it already after realising that lmao thanks

Even if you will get earraped by some song or a glitch, you're gonna take them off instantaneously and you need to hear that earrape for like a whole 10 minutes straight to have long term damage, if its a one time thing, nothing will happen, you might have a ringing in your ears for a few seconds and thats it, nothing more.
I don't know how you think headphones can explode but they can't, never in my life have i heard or read about someone having their headphones or even speakers explode... There is literally nothing in there to make them go boom. You can shoot them, burn them, smash them, they will never explode simply due to lack of such chemicals. there may have been cases which i didn't know about (wireless) headphones containing lithium battery that combusted, but that combustion is EXTREMELY rare and unheard of. its like winning a lottery to have one just randomly combust.
Wired headphones never caught any fire let alone explode (after looking that up i found no cases), there is no battery, so there is no reason for something like that to even happen.
