There's a part in a song where I'd like to use the soft set, but I'm going to use the normal set for the rest of the song. Can I use the soft set in the section where I want to? And if so, can someone show me how? Thanks in advance!

So how exactly do I change the sample set for a timing section?Use the timing setup panel. There's a huge button on the Timing screen (f3) or from the timing menu (Timing > Timing Setup).
Assuming you are using the private build, this dialog will look a lot better than if you aren't.
