I just started playing this year and was just wondering if it’s worth getting a tablet to play. Like are there any major upsides to it

You can try. It's not necessary for you to play osu with only tablet. Major upside is only mainly for comfort factor when you prefer gripping pen instead of mouse. What matter is not to fall into the idea more equipment investment = more skill. Your skill comes from yourself, playing the game in whatever ways you prefer
i guess it's all preference but i prefer tablet because my mouse does frequently slip and it's just lighter.
