After a cool (but scuffed) first edition, we are back for another edition of Stupid Gimmick Showdown! This year we decided to open the tournament up from being invite-only to allow for more players to join in on the fun.
SGS is an international osu! tournament for players between ranks 15,000 to infinity, that will feature non-standard rounds. Every stage of the tournament has a (potentially very stupid) gimmick to spice things up, including (but not limited to) format changes, spinning wheels of (mis)fortune, wild mappools and more!
May the best (or the luckiest) player come out on top!
Additional info:
- This is a solo, double elimination tournament featuring many different concepts and unconventional gimmicks.
NOTE: Gimmicks are based off varying concepts per round and WON'T be focusing on gimmick playstyles such as low ar, awkward patterns etc. - The rank range is 15,000 to infinity.
- Players must be in the rank range before registration ends (players can leave the rank range after the registration period ends).
- This tournament is not badged.
- The top 32 players based off qualifier results will qualify for the tournament.
- Due to how qualifiers went in the previous iteration of this tournament (lol), we will be running a traditional qualifiers featuring 4 NM, 2 HD, 2 HR and 2 DT. The pool will be ~6.5*.
- Staff members cannot participate as a player in the tournament.
- Match schedules will be written in UTC. Round details and mappools will be revealed at the beginning of the week in which the round is played.
- BWS will not be enforced, and there will be no rank buffer. Screening will be done manually and staff may reserve the right to exclude any player from participating under reasonable circumstances.
- Players are required to join the discord server for announcements and scheduling. Players are also required to be there for the length of their stay in the tournament.
