How do you *actually* read jumps?

I've been playing more maps and realized that I might not actually know how to read jumps.
I'm thinking this because when I'm streaming, I look directly at the notes. For jumps though, I either I look at the empty space between notes, or look at only one note per jump.

That's probably the wrong way to read them, but I'm not so sure. So how do you actually read jumps? And how do I practice?

Plenty of top players read like you do, so I don't think it's a significant problem. Personally, I read more actively and do attempt to look at each note. I can't do this on >~8.5* jump maps though.

I just look at the center of the screen and move my eyes depending on where the notes are without looking at them directly. With the muscle memory, it has become a habit

You'll probably read better with mere practice. You're going to keep second-guessing yourself if you think too hard about how you're playing

You can use both your focused and peripheral vision. But optimally, this should come effortlessly as you should focus more on executing how the map goes as a whole

I noticed I actually don't look at the circles too. Somewhere in the middle, especially with big jumps... But the more I think about it, I will miss, so I'm actually trying not to pay attention to it any more
