so i realized the way im holding my mouse is completely wrong and causes carpal tunnel

its basically how you position the right hand on the keyboard (wrist is tilted to the left) and i've been aiming like this ever since i switched to mouse from trackpad

i took a break from osu to try and fix my grip naturally and today i booted up osu again to see if im holding the mouse correctly now, which is mostly doing better but now my aim is trash and i find it difficult to do top to bottom jumps and aim in general. (1500 dpi x1 sens on osu)

also my grip likes to go back to its usual tilted to the left and im not sure how to get this bad mindset out and hold the mouse correctly

anything i can do to go back to my usual skill or do i just have to suck it up and keep playing worse than i used to (went from playing 5 star to cant play 4 stars anymore)

note that a similar thing happened to me on mania (suddenly dropped in skill) and since then i havent touched it because i got too frustrated with myself to try to get back to my original skill level

cant play 4 stars anymore < do this. You need to get used to the easier maps first where you can stabilize your new comfortable position. You won't really lose all your skills during the rehab, but presently 2 choices: play easier maps or re:carpal yourself. There's nothing that you can't learn from even playing maps lower than your level.

You took break from mania. You get worse. All but normal. You just need to re-find your feelings for the mode. Play easier maps.

At your rank you'll quickly recover skill (I don't mean to offend). Force yourself to use the new mouse grip and immediately adjust if you don't notice yourself doing so. Go back to easy maps, whatever you can play comfortably (although still push skillcap a bit). You'll quickly return to your former skill level since your reading will still be intact.

thanks for the advice

i found a youtuber who has a similar mouse grip as me but with a smaller mouse and higher sensitivity (grizzlypng) so im not sure anymore if my mouse grip is actually "wrong" i just heard holding the mouse in a way where your wrist is not straight causes carpal tunnel

I'm not a doctor, but make sure to verify that the source you heard this from is trustworthy.
