So I havent played Osu for some time, so when I opened it I got the message that the game couldnt connect to the server because the game version was outdated, so I ran the OsuUpdater which told me that Osu was up to date, but I still got the connection error, so I completely uninstalled Osu and downloaded the latest installer from the website but I STILL got the error

I also checked my Firewall settings, did that ipconfig /flushdns stuff but literally nothing worked

I´m completely at my wits end here, please someone end my suffering

do you have a network.log that you can send us?
(you might need to be on cuttingedge branch for this to appear)

Make sure your OS doesnt have any pending updates, meaning do a manual check even if it says there are no updates. If there are then please go ahead and update.

you can try repairing/updating your .NET version to see if that works:

a question to the mods, is this normal? maybe the game (as well as bancho) is not being able to identify the version he's playing on? hence the connection failure?

to OP: try changing the version of your osu to cutting edge, see if anything changes

Issue isnt the game not updating, issue is connecting to bancho to submit scores or do pretty much anything online.

The error message that seems to be important is:
2024-07-18T12:01:19: Request to web/bancho_connect.php?v=b20240612cuttingedge&u=ShadowHive&h=********************************&fx=dotnet30|dotnet35|dotnet4|dotnet4|dotnet4&ch=******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************&retry=0 () failed with Forbidden (FAILED).

Are you logging in correctly, and if you are try logging out and back in with your username and password, see if that changes something.

yeah but if the bot doesnt know the version of the game at all, wont it lead to compatibility issues? maybe thats what's giving this error message on the logs

if changing to stable doesnt help, I'm totally out of ideas for this one, good luck boys

Ok so I actually managed to figure out what caused the error, I recently installed some stupid custom driver for a device which apparently automatically disabled the Driver Signature Enforcement, which seemed to have caused this error, uninstalled that driver and rebooted my PC and the game works now again

Thanks everyone for trying to help me anyway tho
Polyspora
well I would never have thought of that, good that you got it fixed though, have fun

yeah I only found out because I tried to play another game with Easy Anti Cheat, which gave me an error message which said that it could not start because of this disabled signature enforcement and thats when it clicked, otherwise I probably would have never found out lol

what driver was that, if you do not mind sharing?

Heres the link to the driver site:
https://www.julianloehr.de/educational-work/hid-wiimote/

reading though the disclaimer now more thoroughly it actually says that it disables the driver signature enforcement, I just didnt know that it was such a big deal, my bad
