depends on what you want to achieve with filters. pretty much all drawbacks/problems are a lot worse with smaller areas.
tablet noise/shake reduction -> cursor is delayed in slower motions, usually seems like there's little drawback/almost free
smoothing -> bigger delay
prediction -> less perceived delay, more responsive, more noise
interpolation -> smoother more consistent motion (unless your tablet hz and monitor hz are synced already), not necessary for 60 hz monitor usually. causes some delay but the smoother motion usually more than makes up for it (if you have a high hz monitor)
E: you can kinda get best of both prediction and smoothing by having smoothing at low pen speed, prediction at faster speed to minimise drawbacks. flat smoothing or flat prediction not very good.
