okay after a few minute forum search I see that nobody has asked this for some reason.

I have been able to learn how to play stuff like camellia maps but they are still in 4/4 or 3/4. I want to learn how to play stuff like II-L, ekoro maps and whatever else is out there that's like that.
I have tried just playing them, tried to slow them down and look in the editor but I still end up approximating and probably playing in the wrong rhythm.
any tips, preferably from someone who understands polyrhythms? (can be just in the music sense too)

You can improve your technical skillsets as much as you can

Firstly, finger control, Your skill to exert tapping exactly as you intended to the rhythm. This ensure at the basic, you're more robust toward chain miss when it comes to many patterns that are not as straightforward as other mapping styles.

Second, reading. Basically the way you understand how the map goes. I usually divide this skillsets in two, between reading fast and bulk. Reading fast is needed when the maps are highly dynamic and even can change between bpm and time signature (e.g 1/4 to 1/3 to 1/6). Reading bulk is also needed to understand many overlapping patterns and lower AR range. Both of which makes you less susceptible to bruteforce and you're getting more accuracy that way.

and third, memory. Sometimes you do need to memorise, perhaps just on the most difficult part would do. Don't overdo with memory cause you don't want to overload yourself

and also, also. Willpower to keep going! Technical skillsets takes a lot of time to master! But in the end, you can flex on getting pass on the most demonical tech maps out there to your friends

It's mostly reading, at least for me. I could probably acc polyrhythms decently without audio.

yes yes but, I more feel my issue comes with not understanding polyrhythm in the first place. like, it feels so hard to even grasp what to focus on. it just feels like notes coming at random for me. so trying to click that feels like a hopeless task when I can't even understand what I'm clicking.

reply to naiad, it showed up after I posted:
oh really? is the audio distracting for you?

No the audio helps a bit but most of it is in the reading for me. I tap depending on how fast I see the notes appear.

I mean it's not always perfect but yes I think I am above average at accing polyrhythms, although nothing exceptional.

The method to understand polyrhythms is simple.

You start small and break up each part into pieces.

Understand each piece and its fundamentals and you will understand it in its full form.

This takes time and practice, reading and executing

You get better at polyrhythms doing them or by playing it getting into the rhythm is probably best since you don't really need to think about it if you do but if you can't then your best bet is to just practice and review that polyrhythm a bazillion times or something

sorry for slight necro but thanks for the advice everyone. I wanna tryhard that since idk, I like that weird type of playing and I don't want to kill my hand with 250 bpm streams
