My sliders snake out while his just kinda... appear.
I don't really know what the softening filter does because it's never been enabled for me.
Edit: to clarify on snaking sliders, the sliders start out as a single point and then slowly slide out and create the slider track when snaking sliders is enabled. If it is off then there is no animation for them and you see the entire slider immediately.
