osu! website as a music sharing platform?

idk, i just had a random thought one day like:
"what if the osu! website has an entire section of the website (outside of the forums) for music sharing, as a way to potentially increase the amount of original songs for the game and to encourage mapping of those songs"

not trying to push for anything here, just a random thought i needed to say somewhere :p

feel free to dicuss how you imagine this being implemented and what sort of cool perks there can exist to posting music on the site/mapping of such songs!

maybe if you post a song you can get a "music point" or something?

I don't know about perks for posting original songs (might be abused by shitposting and stolen content), but that's why featured artists exist, and if someone wants to be one too, they can contact peppy.

Also only now have found out there is a whole track search with all featured songs

tho i do agree with this, that way of getting artists requires licensing that music which is likely expensive, you're limited to only one featured artist per week usually and artists who get featured already have multiple songs of theirs usually mapped and ranked

that's sort of why i thought about this idea, as a second way of promoting music that's run more by users instead of the staff team of osu! :p

yee, that's what i was thinking, that and maybe something for mappers too, maybe something like mappers guild, or something different (maybe plays/favourites of the map?), but yea :p
