I personally find it better than the old one. With the old one, half of the people "boosted" their rank. This new one is harder to do that with. I do have one problem with it now though. It does penalize you for doing good sometimes. i got an S Rank on a 3 1/2 star song last night, and for whatever reason, my rank went from 15700 --> to 16,100. I previously had a B on that song [ was one of the songs i had dled when i first started playing], and yet, when i improve my rank on an insane song from a B --> S it would only increase my rank a tad. But, thats pretty much my only problem with the new ranking system. Its pretty funny watching the people who boosted up to 10k or so, not be able to even finish some of the songs they SHOULD be able to. lol

Funny thing is, I was one of those 'boosters' in ppv1, and still 'boost' in ppv2. I don't deserve the rank I'm at but if I can still make it go higher, why stop boosting?FallenFew wrote:

my rank dropped around 1k when the new system was implemented (taiko), but I'm happier with this system.

I've been stuck at ~3k rank for months on ppv1... and I'm still stuck at ~3k on ppv2. But now I can't beat the Top Performances of people ranked above me (at least not yet), so I'd assume the system is working and I'm where I need to be.
New system is better than the old one imo, if only based on experience. I feel i really need to get good scores to increase pp now.
On the other hand, i feel the new system underrates (for example) ar7 difficulty. I consider ar7 maps to be much more difficult then it's ar9 counterparts. However, this also may be because, first of all, i suck at ar 7 compared to my rank, or the ar7 maps i play are mostly quite old. I can imagine the pp system takes into account the age of a map to encourage being up to date.

To be honest, I like the new system. I dropped 10K in rank, but I never really cared about that anyway. Its just a number that pops up and makes you feel better/worse XD. The one thing I'd want to look into is how the number of keys on a beatmap affects it. I've seen that 4K so far seems to add more pp than 7K- on maps that are extremely close in difficulty. Others have said the same thing, so is it just me? Maybe it's just my imagination. Also, if it did take the age of the beatmap into account, that would be pretty awesome as well. One needs only look at old 2007 maps to see how much the difficulties have changed. That's my two cents

Better than before actually, the ppv1 is just ugh..
I personally quite like the new ranking system, since it finally determines rank a lot more often than the last one did (at least that's what it did for me). Though it sucks for me 'cause I'm at the risk of slipping back into the 10000's when I've been working at quadruple digit ranks for some time now. I probably deserve it though, I haven't played as much as I did.
