should i try getting better skills? i know my aim and streaming skills need a lot work, any tips on learning approach rate? i struggle with everything like ar 8.5 and above

edit: put ar before 8.5

Whatever floats your boat man. Though saying you struggle with 8.5 sounds hilarious since anyone who isn't a low 5-digit's gonna struggle with 8* maps.

im talking about approach rate not star rating gahh. like i can only play up to ar 9 because everything after is too fast for me to react

edit: ive started playing lots of DT and maps that require faster reaction times but i can usually only pass maps with below ar 9, and beyond being fast, my finger control isnt great so i can hardly hit the circles even if i aim them

I looked over your profile (scores) and your recent gameplay on your Twitch.

I want to assume that you know AR is not what it actually displays once you are on DT (hence the arrow pointing upwards during DT), but I see that you play on DT a lot and probably weren't aware.

I would suggest practicing maps that have a lot of finger control, but aren't too much of difficulty, something that can still challenge you. And my other tip is try out HR, without DT. Most of the maps you will play are going to be set at 10 AR, which is not going to be as fast as DT AR 9.
The mod will also require you to be more accurate with your timings, so keep in mind for that. Don't let it put you down.

Edit: found these charts for you.

You aren't struggling with AR8.5, you are a DT player so the AR will increase accordingly as Wimpy has pointed out. Your top play was around AR10 and you got good accuracy so you have no issues with high AR.

As for what skills to get better at, you can choose pretty much anything you want but it seems like improving raw aim skill is the most convenient. Everything needs aim so improve that first, then once you have experienced enough playstyles choose your pick.
