"Milestone" maps?

I'm starting to get tired of playing four star maps and FCing them almost without effort (except when I'm too bored), so I'm planning to move to harder maps so I can finally think of myself as somewhat average player.
Therefore, I came across an idea to ask you here if there are maps which are considered a good entrance to higher difficulties? I mean like separating newbies from average players if you can FC them.

I'm mainly asking this because I want to train to be more competitive in multiplayer, because right now I either beat people by far or get beaten the same way

Oh boy.. I really need to head down memory lane for this one don't I..

I could try and come up with a good list of "tiers" I guess.
I don't often play to be competitive, but if that's how you want to play osu!, go for it. (:

I could have a talk on the game with you at some point, and figure out some maps i know of that could be challenging for you!
I like helping out. And I'm sure a lot of people have maps that were challenging to them at some points or another.

Maybe when I can actually contemplate the 2 years of history, I'll formulate a list.

Yeah, tier list would be awsum!

When I say competitive, I'm not planning to go anywhere near top of ranking, just be able to hold my ground in multiplayer, so I won't get godstomped 50% of time on harder maps.

When I first started playing I was sorta in the same place as you were.
I guess I really started improving when my osu playing friend linked me Chipscape...

At first I just get straight destroyed and feeling overwhelmed but it really helped me in reading the higher ar maps (comparing to that of 4, 4.5 star maps).
I mean I'm no where near close to being "good" at ctb, but that's my experience and I really hope you can enjoy the game and the process as much as I did

Woah! These maps you guys linked are way out of my reach for now, except for standard mode (4,5/5 stars) of MATZcore, but I think I might be able to complete its hardcore mode (2nd difficulty of three) with some training because I was able to get a combo of 97 (EDIT: 87, and there was some luck involved tbh) when I played it for 2nd time... Guess something a bit easier than it would do for now, just to get ready for that one

And Ragnarkok seems even harder. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it in a long while, but I'll try from time to time. Guess it'll help me to improve.
Yeah, I'm quite a newbie -_-

Thank you guys. I really appreciate your help.
And yeah, if anyone else has any other suggestions I'm open to them.

PS: Sorry my English isn't really all that great

The normal and hards on these two maps are pretty good practice.

For the "last piece of god" status, pass Verdi Ctb diffs with decent good accuracy.
Something about 94+ is "ok" or even "good".

Else:

0108 Maps, Kirby Style Maps, Neu stream maybe (the newer one), Tag4s(?).
