How do I get into the scene

I have been playing osu! for a fair amount of time and am looking to step up my game. I want to aim to get better results in consistency as well as something to help motivate me to get better at the game. I want to start taking things more seriously and start to play a bit more consistently. I have watched the osu! WC for the past couple years and other smaller tournaments and the general format of gameplay looks very fun and wanted to see if there was anything similar at a smaller scale, a friendly competition or such. I have searched online but this area of the gameplay seems like a blurred line anywhere I look. If is able to guide me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

Basically you wanted to know how to join a tourney?

Any tournament is casual if you team with the right people.

The same forum where you posted this, you can find tournaments that fit your rank and just sign up to them. Actually, in this forum where you posted this, 99% of the forum is just tournament announcements to sign up to them.

Exactly what shikke said, you can just join right now if there are any open tournaments that is within your rank range. Since you are 300k it is more likely for you to join a 6 digit tournament. Scroll through the tournament forums and you may find a few tournaments that you can join. Though you may not find a tournament everytime you visit the forum, so I suggest waiting and come back to the forum from time to time.

As for tournament procedures and stuff you will learn through experience, but fyi tournaments will usually have people to be good at everything including mods like hd, hr, dt. Don't expect that you are able to be good at everything, you will have weaknesses and strengths so focus on what you are best at.

Tbh at this rank range if you want to improve, just farm. Tournaments hinders you from going above your skillcap cause it forces you to be an all rounder most of the time

i think at mininum you should join a tourney at 20k because that's when they actually help push you to allround, but if you want to play one for fun just fill out a registration for one that you can play (look for 100k international tourneys or region-locked tourneys that you can play with your current flag)
if they want you to get teammates go to the discord server and ask whoever signs up as free agent if they would be willing to team (do make sure they have schedules friendly with yours though, for example if you're from the usa ideally you find other usa players)

All the things above are correct, I'd say try it out though. Opinions change after you play one and then they might completely change again after you play 5 (or something idk). Its a good way to meet people other than the actual tournament itself. But yeah, there's not really a specific rank you should start at. Just play for the experience both social and competitive :>

Hi there, scout tournaments forum for ones in your rank range, I would suggest starting with team ones, sign up either as a free agent or get some people and make a team.
Now for the unfortunate reality check, you most likely won't qualify, even 6 digit has an active and very competitive scene you will quickly get to know who is playing tournaments religiously and given the fact that there are many 6 digit tournament players it can be hard to get into smaller ones, also expect the maps to be very hard, most 6D tourneys have Grand Finals mappool of 5.4*+ avg.
If you don't get discouraged by the way all of this works you may find it a fun way to experience the game, and maybe we will see each other in future matches.
Best of luck.

I disagree, if you play tourneys and don't get into the 1 trick pony role you will need to learn to play maps way harder than typical farm with mods that will make you more comfortable with maps that you wouldn't touch before. Thus making you a better player who isn't scared at the sight of a (pick hard skill set) map.

Why is that? In my opinion it wouldn't be fun to experience the 5 digit hell scape as your first contact with tournaments?
