Basically, this request is for an implementation for making complex sliders easier. It would allow the newer circle slider algorithm to be used in conjunction with anchor points, thus allowing shapes like the following to be created with ease:
Of course, the end result would require a different arrangement of points for the whole thing to look smooth, but it wouldn't be too complicated and it could open a world of possibility to mappers who aren't as confident with slider manipulation. mm and I had discussed this implementation when the arc algorithm was updated, but it would have been problematic for those who liked to make asymmetrical, three-point arcs.
Now that many notorious mappers seem to have finally got used to the newer slider behaviour, I believe that adding this feature wouldn't cause too much inconvenience and it could result in more interesting sliders at big payoff moments. While those with the knowledge and skill can make multi-arc sliderart fairly easily, it still requires a lot of patience and trial and error--at least, this is the case for me. Given that I need to start following a mapping schedule, while also wanting to be more adventurous with presentation, this feature would be a tremendous help to me.
For those who might abuse this to obscene levels, remember that the same happened when circle sliders were added. Misuse gets weeded out by mods and boredom, so it won't be a huge problem in the long run. For those of you who still cling to the "flow-leading sliders" ideal, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to combine symmetrical sliders to create asymmetrical flow.
Please chime in if you have anything to add to this, or whether you agree or disagree with the idea.
