i just tried playing dt maps and holy shit thats a lot of pp for a pretty mediocre performance.. (my 50pp play was def a lot harder than the DT plays)

is there anything skillwise good about using DT? the way i see it, its just to farm pp and doesn't really help with actually improving at the game, but i could be wrong since there are a lot of people who use DT regularly

I use DT to practice for tourneys, cause DT has a lot of use as a skill pusher for most, and for others to get freaky with it and set cool scores for themselves. I don't like it that much even with the amount I use it, however its not bad for the most part, just takes some actual practice to make it a non-farmable Mod (btw farming with DT is subjective nowadays since its such a prominent thing so just assume you actually have the skill for that level of it)

DT helps developing your raw power, basically your mechanical limits.

You're forced to tap faster, read faster, aim faster, with certain degree of timing precision. On paper, you can theoritically put it on everything. Tech, alt, you name it. But on the field, DT is often associated with just farming.

As someone lacking in power, DT mainly helps hand in hand with getting my grip on HR. It's more intuitive to put 3* with DT and learn higher map AR and OD with it than straight HR early on with prior NM only player.

DT players are often the most stereotyped here. DT themselves I believe isn't bad.

Now, do double time in higher difficulties.

In short, it does help, your just doing DT in lower diffs thats why its a bit easier, and the pp gap is not that big in comparison to your normal plays, so its fine to use DT as your already improving and going up ranks.

Basically, playing all mods will improve your skill somewhat.

focus on any specific thing that's differend, will not teach you that much of other things. some dt only players get frustrated when they can't read or play lower ar/bpm maps at a star rating they can play dt fine.

it is absolutely not bad, please don't make the mistake I did. some DT scores might be overweighted but it's excellent for improving at the game.

dt is the most universal mode i believe
you want to aim faster? dt
you want to burst faster? dt
you want to give yourself rsi with 250 bpm finger control? dt
dt is just a tool and how you use it is up to you

Personaly, that's less intuitive because of the speed-up that DT provides. I would much rather practice higher AR/OD at the same speed it'll be at with HR as opposed to being 1.5x faster.

to answer the OP, though, no, DT by itself isn't bad. Objectively it's the best mod to use for pp gains (HDDT the specific best mod combo), and there is some truth to it being a good way to train skills. It's just not going to feel like it when you're playing low SR maps and it's less of a skill check and more like "What you're playing already, just slightly faster."

(Btw, an NM SS of a 2.5-3* map is usually about 30-40pp. A DT SS is usually 80 at minimum and often is above 100pp. HRHD would only up to to 50-60 normally, so that's a pretty huge jump. It may not seem like it if your DT playability averages out to be the same as with NM, but it's pretty big.)

DT is fun and it gives pp

but playing dt too much is bad because you might hate playing nm if you play dt too much

Dt player here

Depending on what maps you play dt can be literally anything
You can Play tech, finger Control, AIM control etc.
Dt isn't a playstyle, its a tool

I play lots of dt but only like 1/4 of maps i play are even decently farmable

There is no difference between 130 bpm burst dt map

And 200 bpm nm burst map

No (look at my top plays lol)

No one is this thread noticed that OP is a six digit and likely finds DT easier because of higher AR

DT sucks

Some maps are stupidly overweighted with DT for pp. It's more useful (for improvement) later on when you're being limited by your pattern processing and/or tapping speed. As a general rule, don't play something with DT unless you can also play it at the normal speed.

I my top plays are full of HDDT plays that are overweighted as hell "it's getting slightly better, used to be a overweighted score í.3 but now only 6.9) and I'm not even mad Abt it😌

Yeah. Nothing is truly wrong with DT itself. Being a one trick is kind of frowned upon but If you truly enjoy it, then no problem

the only valid DT scores are old map DT. they're very respectable if you get a good acc/fc on them

You are right. I'm actually on training arc for DTHR. In fact i am improving quite fast, almost too fast, as i have already reached #1 country rank for reaction on osu!skills in just the span of 2 weeks. However one cannot simply spam AR 11. My eyes are dead, so im going back to DT

Likewise, DT player. I am aware of my goofy behavior, but i ask not be refered as 'mr i beat lifeline in reaction speed'. I know i'm cringe for farming reaction speed, but I am proud. Yet still, You cannot tell me AR 11 doesn't look swag.

Nah i legit believe that you can acomplish that

I stopped ar 8 after a bit and now I do ar 9+DT much better I also throw in a bit of variety every now and then, some speed some stream some high bpm jumps some nm having variety helps a lot even if you still just main a specific mod set
