Well, it looks like the United States managed to win the osu! world cup again, which is crazy because they were losing because of Canada, but they did a perfect win streak after that! Congratulations!!! 🎊🎊🎊

Unfortunately for South Korea, even though they managed to literally win every matches in OWC, it wasn't enough to beat the strong USA, but they still deserve a GGWP for being the best team in this world cup!! (Mostly worst hr player 🐐)

GGWP to Australia for being in the 3rd place! I didn't except this team to stay in the winners bracket and the even managed to beat Poland! Really good team with great players too :)

Now I want to thank every other teams such as Germany, Poland, Canada, Chile, Philippines, Russia, United Kingdom, Sweden, China and more for their hard work in this battle <3333

I want Australia or Germany to win. Germany was always my favourite OWC team outside of my own country.

Anyways, to answer the question: USA is probably the favorite (although the loss of Utami certainly stings, and some have questioned the fact that Decaten didn't make the team), but I can also definitely see SK and Poland winning. As a Korean-American I'm finding myself basically rooting against Poland aha. I'd also maybe give small chances to Canada, Australia, Germany and Russia.

USA qualified 3rd btw, SK and Poland are the top 2 seeds

I'm gonna be mainly rooting for Australia and Korea, Australia finally has a team that feels like it isn't fully reliant on mrekk fcing every map

I also really like the Phillipines, they qualified 5th somehow and their entire roster is just hyeok lol

But in the end I'm just rooting for every non-US team

Nope. There was also a match showdown a few months ago and he lost against malis at that time. He is indeed a difficult player to beat lol

I don't follow those kinds of tourneys, and I said doesn't lose them often, not never. Even someone of his prestige will lose at some point.

That being said, it was a 1v1 tourney, no? 4v4 in OWC might be a different story when it's not just malis vs. Vaxei.

I just thought it was funny that you posted that within hours after he had lost his match to Malisz. And yes as I said I think that USA is prob still the favorite, although Malisz is currently a substantially stronger tournament player than Vaxei. The USA, in part thanks to being a larger country, simply has a stronger supporting cast than Malisz has.

This is what I love about tournaments, it's completely separate from top player rankings. We get to see so many great players perform at such high stakes, and we get to witness some really talented and overlooked players.

I mean, I would still assign a significant chance to the USA winning. It's not like they got 20th seed or something, they got 3rd.

isn't Indonesia on Seed 9? rHO and lifeline couldn't carry Indonesia but well let's see. Also Poland and Philippines team are so stacked, Vaxei cannot carry USA, get ready for their biggest nightmare, either it's South Korea or Poland.

Did players like BTMC and DigitalHypno opt not to play, or did they just not get picked?

I mean, the dominant roster of, like, 2019 may not happen again, and I mean no offense to some of the current people on the US team as I'm not that up-to-date on how the top players are doing, but weren't there "better" picks to choose from?

I'm just going off the top of my head with this response so I might be wrong

Iirc BTMC was never a USA OWC stable, I think he played in 1 year as a NM2 fill player and that's about it. I'm guessing his skill generally isn't at the level to make the roster consistently.

As for DigitalHypno, I remember I watched some of his content on youtube, and iirc he took a break from osu at some point, and after that hasn't really been playing too seriously.

The only really notable one I can think of is maybe Decaten who had this to say: "fiery outperformed me specifically on gimmick, hence to why he got picked over me". Outside of that I'm pretty sure fancy lad simply doesn't play the game much anymore and is stepping down, and Utami had the whole drama thing happen.

USA and SK are the only two teams that can are so well balanced at high sr that they could put up a super good roster on really anything even as the pools get harder. It'll be a tough battle between those two teams imo. Poland can't contest either of them on a GF pool, their other players besides malis just aren't good enough yet.

Poland may have a chance to beat US on the SF pool though, which is a place they will likely meet in. I don't think they stand a chance against SK in finals though, even if they won the match against US.

SK honestly may be favored against US on even a Grand Finals pool, if they put in the practice time and can hold nerves through the match.

Vaxei and Rektygon are very even in terms of skill right now, and that duo will be absolutely cracked. Evenly matched however by SK's duo, worst hr player and karcher. As long as karcher keeps a good mindset and practices, they will shred. Poland however doesn't have even a second incredibly good player, its basically malis against the world, especially on higher sr pools.

Neither of them tried out, but BTMC is far far worse than anyone on USA's roster. DigitalHypno can't keep up with current tournament skill cap either. This US roster is basically Vaxei Rektygon perma carry, and then incredibly good specialist players that will shred on their slots. Only person who may have been a better pick was Decaten, who took Vaxei to TB and honestly would've been a third carry player on anything besides HD, but the US lacked HD and gimmick players so they couldn't pick him.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I was thinking Karcher, Worst HR, and FlyingTuna is a pretty damn monstrous trio. Apparently Tuna's the weak leg of the three, I guess, but they're all pretty good.

Imo it won't be a hugeeee loss without him, but it would have been better for the US if he was there since his finger control is really REALLY something. He's the #1 US after all lol

Utami was being inappropriate with female friends of his at the time (he was 17 at the time possibly still is) and said friends wanted him to basically stop and get help, people on twitter are pretty braindead and started to dox, send deaththreats, and hack his account along with calling him a p-word. He basically admitted he was at fault and dipped from the internet for like 9-11 months and has been (most likely) getting help. Now he kinda just comes and goes when he wants.

Just as well, I suppose. Not so much for the drama infected OWC but for him working out whatever issues caused that behavior.
