Struggling with removing/blocking some people on Snapchat

As someone who uses social media, like everyone else, I am usually active on snapchat to snap, chat, talk and keep in touch with people I know.

However, I am recently starting to notice that some people that I used to consider as "friends", are starting to abuse our friendships for their own benefits (there are 17 year olds who spam me trying to convince me to buy alcohol for them since they are not old enough), spreading negativity, lying and ghosting intentionally suddenly out of nowhere, refusing to accept facts when I correct them and instead they start spewing more misinformation, some have harrassed me irl by forcing me to smoke and put snus in my mouth while I was impacted by alcohol and recording it without my consent (I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH SMOKING AND SNUSING), and some just wants to avoid talking to me and leaves me behind my back, even when they say that im a cool and chill person to talk to or hang out with, and so much more...

All of these characteristics are people that most people would usually avoid talking to or cut contact with, and I do not like having to see them on my snapchat list. However, I still struggle to remove or block them on snapchat, because I'm afraid that they might get hurt, get mad at me, will try to take revenge on me, spread false rumors about me etc. And also because I still share a lot of good memories with them, but their toxic behavior still overshadows this and makes me want to not talk to them anymore. And also I do not like seeing people I got to know at different occasions disappear from my memories. Its like that I would still kinda miss them, even if they did not care about me or just used me.

So the reason I wrote this on the osu! forums was to get simple advice on how I can convince myself to break the mental and emotional barriers that keeps preventing me from being able to block or remove people on snapchat. Do you people have any advice on this topic?

i had to block a big group of people before too, just kinda do it randomly and dont think about it
always remember, you snus you lose

Well I deleted my facebook account and cut off with the vast majority of the people I talked to in HS and it has not brought me problems even several years after. Man but reaching to the point of not respecting your limits on what to consume is definitely going too far. I'd cut contact with them, you need no validation from that kind of people.

In Norway the usage of Snapchat is near universal amongst teenagers and young adults, it is the default message app in many cases, even surpassing Facebook messenger, whatsapp and iMessage in popularity among young people.

Same for us. All young people have Snpachat and not only the middle schoolers, also the high schoolers all the way up to people who are in their thirties. It's kind of a mix between instagram and movie star planet lol

blunt answer, you have to stop avoiding conflict at some point, learn to be more selfish about your mental health, and realize that at the end of the day you can never and will never be on everybody's good side and everyone has people they just won't get along with.
Plus its completely normal for people to grow apart - especially when young, and removing someone on a dumb social media site doesn't get rid of memories.

I am aware shit like that is always easier said than done though. Sometimes things are hard because the answer is simple.
Start with only a few at a time, cut out the ones who have done the worst by you, or who have mostly ghosted you already. they are unlikely to care if they even notice. Do it spontaneously when for example the minors that try to get you to buy them alcohol ask again. If anyone does get upset remind yourself to look at it as them having done that to themselves, you realistically aren't to blame for anything here and its not you who hurt them.

Besides getting blocked or removed on social media is hardly anything to get upset over and small beans compared to what you are saying some did, but that's just my opinion as someone who doesn't use most social media sites.

Do you only talk to strangers on Snapchat, or your friends are there too? Because you gotta know the person who's talking to you before talking to them regularly. Also, if the person is annoying to you, you can just say "you're annoying" to them and they'll have to deal with it. It's not complicated to tell to people that they are annoying if they really are, right?

I personally don't want to talk to any obnoxious people on Snapchat, and since 80% of people who wants to talk to me in DM are [REDACTED], I basically avoid everyone except irl friends there

I talk to both friends i know irl and strangers I met online. However, I want to remove some of the people i know irl on snapchat, thus cutting contact with them. But the thing is that I dont want to things escalate if i just tell them they are annoying or just remove/block them...

OH it's irl people okkk
Well, why don't you just tell them irl to chill or to calm down on Snapchat instead of blocking them directly? I thought that you were only talking about strangers

Idk, to communicate with other people in the world maybe?

If they're really your "friend", they won't get mad if you deleted snapchat and disappeared from the platform. But if that's too radical, why not making a new seperate private anonymous account and give them to your close friends?

Yeah, I felt like Snapchat is not used everywhere which is totally normal

I mean people use it here but even since school I wasn't interested in it at all, there are better chatting apps to me
