Tried a bunch of other things out!
It depends on the person, but personally I reached a dead end really quickly learning anime style first and stagnated for years, so I started learning basic human anatomy and photo studies every now and then. I feel that if you can grasp drawing the human body to a reasonable extent, you can easily manipulate it to any style or even discover your own.
Of course, what works for one person might not work for someone else, but as I said try a bunch of things out to see what sticks for you personally. c:
And yeah, as lostsilver said: Practice is mandatory; references and guide books are helpful, as drawing from nothing is extremely difficult; go at your own pace; and don't feel burned if you're struggling to draw one specific piece.
I'm paraphrasing this one quote I once heard a while back that helped me whenever I struggled with something:
"The difference between a master and an apprentice, is that a master has failed more times."
