I would like to officially state my disapproval of this tournament.
How can it be named a world cup if not all players can try to take part in it ?
The rank 5000 makes it na rank restricted tournament that can't be called an WORLD cup, the organizers actively gate keep their event from all osu players.
In its current state it should've been called 1-5KWC.

putting it past this barrier would make it absolute hell for tryout organizers. As someone who organized only 6wc Czechia tryouts I can say any sort of tryout organization is hard and some countries (like USA) would have around 500 sign ups from all rank ranges and building a team out of all of those could be very hard and time consuming. Most countries besides the really big ones such as USA don't even benefit from this at all. The USA would basically unlock options like Kisoi or Jellium. Countries like Czechia or Slovakia unlock around 1/2 options and it just makes tryouts harder for the organizers (this applies to a lot of countries, even some like South korea or Australia)filomaster22 wrote:

I'll leave a few comments addressing the last few replies:
We will not remove the #5,000 rank requirement, as it would very likely result in upwards of 10,000 signups (all of which we have to screen for tournament eligibility status). Most of which would not make it into a team (except for major sandbaggers). Removing the barrier for entry will enable said sandbaggers to continue deranking, and we do not wish for that.
Any player that wins an official tournament that receives a badge is eligible for said badge. There are no restrictions whatsoever.
