Problem details:
using 11.6.8 MacOs Big Sur, I tried everything I found online but it won't work

try installing osu!lazer from https://github.com/ppy/osu/#running-osu.

It's quite experimental at the moment, and rank resets do apply, but it's the best experience osu! has for mac at the moment.

While using lazer for mac might be better, if they want to use stable they should try going through this thread to see if it could help.
