I started playing osu! 4 months ago or something still a new guy ^^ but since i started ive been double tapping, my friend told me to stop double tapping because it would be hard to get used to streams in harder maps because if i get used to double tap slow speeds it will be harder to get higher speeds to stream is this true?

I used to double tap when i was playing medium but I used to get a lot of 100/50s so I decided to single tap and my accuracy increased from 87% to almost 96%.
I can say that i find it easier to single tap slow parts and use double tap for streaming or triples, even duos.

It kinda is I guess.
Its possible for me to keep a decent acc on ~300 bpm singletaps and I alternate (the double tap youre talking about) pretty good (I actually like to call my playstyle duo-tap, since I use K1 for 2 combos and K2 for the next one (its random though)).
The downside is that Iam literally unable to stream any stream above 175 bpm for more than 8 notes consistently. Idk why, but thats just how it is. Short 200 BPM streams are fine; Breakcore maps are fine, but any longer stream kills me almost every time.

I've alternated for about 95% of my time playing osu! but have recently have switched to singletapping. The things I've noticed so far is an increase in accuracy and of course i'm faster at singletapping now :D just my personal experience.

Untrue... I doubletap and I can stream fairly well when I warmup

Double tap your way to Gameplay and Rankings

i play the hardest diff of this map using singletap

It's still depends on your skill. I think? I mean, look at SiLviA. She can do 220bpm streams, and she used double tap style.

Take a look at the replays by doctorindark, and you'll see how stable alternate can be.
Single tap needs to practice on the speed more in the future, while alternate needs to practice more on map reading skill.
I'll say it's pretty much a matter of preference, though alternate needs more time to master the accuracy, it has some advantage on durability, and once the fingers coordinate well, alternate players may actually get better accuracy in streams.

single tap es numero uno no. #1

No but seriously, I alternated/double tapped since I started playing and find it less fatiguing when playing for longer periods of time. Accuracy wise, people might say its worse but an opinion is an opinion; do what you find the most comfortable.

This post wins the whole subject.

To be on topic, I alternate as well... If it's slow enough I'll single tap, but as soon as a stream or a group of faster sliders come along, I start double tapping them (I sometimes have issues or releasing too early on sliders x.x)
OSUcore
I'm only two month's in so I might be completely wrong but this is my opinion, ever since I've started to try insanes, and I realized about 95% of the time, It's all single tapping. So I say it's better to practice single, but switching off into double isn't too hard, just practice on some stream map and you'll be fine. Or at least it's what I do.

er..... for me its based on a rhythm.

I normally single tap through most of the song and double tap when there are streams or short sliders grouped together.
