[Archived] osu! closes unexpectedly and .require_update files appears

Problem details: osu! keeps closing on me unexpectedly in result screens and the main menu, and a file called ".require_update" appears right after osu! closes. I have the game updated to the latest game version, so I'm somewhat confused as to what is happening. The file disappears when I open osu! though, but after playing for a bit osu! closes again and the files reappears.

This problem appeared when I just updated the game to the latest game version, which is the summer mode version (Stable 20230727.9).

any software related to osu! or gaming you are using? something like overwolf? also what about antivirus

I have no antiviruses installed. I am using overwolf but I usually have it closed every time I play anything, but idk if that does something

I see and what apps do you have in overwolf? Just to try to see if we can reproduce the issue. Not saying that is the cause.

I have a similar issue, but my game doesn't even pass through the update thingy where it says "your game client is being updated", then 1 second after, it follows with "your osu! is up-to-date!", then it closes and the game never opens.
And if I try to open it up again, I get the same result each time.
Then that file appeared

And after following the last step, which was to copy the text I got and paste it into my support ticket or forum post, I thought writing it down here might help address the issue although I'm not that sure.

Your issue is a bit different, try updating your graphics card drivers. Also make sure you have all Windows updates installed. If that does not help you can try disabling overlays such as Discord overlay but that is likely not the cause.

the fix didnt work for me, osu still crashes after playing 2-3 maps
