[Archived] Sudden lag spike then black screen mid-map

Problem details: In the middle of a map, I sometimes get a large lag spike that completely freezes the game. After a couple seconds, the screen turns completely black and unresponsive, forcing me to close the game using task manager.

Specs:
- CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
- Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)

Other info:
- on Windows 10 Home version 22H2
- not running compatibility mode
- still happens even if I only have osu! open
- osu! is the only game that this occurs on
- only occurs around the middle of the map
