How do I add custom kiai particles in a beatmap?

I've seen works like Tynamo's Ascension to Heaven beatmap that has custom sakura-like particles, how do i add those in my beatmap since i'm adding a crystal effect for the kiai section. A step by step guide is much appreciated ^-^

just add a star2.jpg file into your map's folder, the custom kiai flash will be that file
