[Self-introduction]
This is a post after 5 years being here in osu!.
here
I didn't go to osu!forum very often and didn't actually posted a self-introductory thing (and now also ._.)

Taiko playing: I have played taiko for about 6 years since I played the first taiko game in NDS (NDS1).
I travelled through the age of taiko and played:
-太鼓のオワタツジン(taiko no owatatsujin; オワタ; owata),
-太鼓さん次郎(taikosanjiro; 次郎; jiro) and of course
-osu!taiko here, and also
-arcade taiko (Arcade Computer; AC) (9-10★ player)

Taiko mapping: I have been a taiko-chart mapper for about 4-5 years (mapped in owata, jiro and here).

Currently not much free time.

About my character:
-Instead of complaining and moaning, I like to work behind the scene (and this is Chinese culture!)
-I don't like to force others to do anything, especially in a game (and I think arguments with real anger in a game are unnecessary)
[Main thread]
Besides posting my own work, I opened this thread because I wanted to appreciate more good unranked taiko maps which could possibly be neglected by most of you.
It is useless to boast the "good" maps of oneself, but rather players would comment on them.
Here I also list some of my maps on the very bottom of this page, which I may not say they are good. Feel free to comment on them.

More of my philosophy (work in progress):
here
[adding more later]
About "authentic" taiko maps
"authentic" taiko maps
If you have not played taiko no tatsujin (TnT) in AC or NDS or whatever, then I really recommend you to play the songs/maps there (aka. "authentic" songs):
Download (credit to aquabluu and mappers who made the map for osu!taiko)-> https://sites.google.com/site/aquabluustaikomaps/

If you can't find the song you want above and you want to play it in osu!, send me a PM with the soundtrack and find me the corresponding note chart (in the reference website below), I can finish it very quickly.

If you want to preview an "authentic" song, go here and click and maps and click オート動画/キャプチャ in the middle of a page(if available) then you could see the charts played by auto:
Reference-> http://www.wikihouse.com/taiko/index.php?%C6%F1%B0%D7%C5%D9%C9%BD%2F%A4%AA%A4%CB%2F%A1%FA%A1%DF10
For romanization of a song title (useful before going to aquabluu's page)->http://nihongo.j-talk.com/

Although some of you might think that some of the maps in TnT are not well made (in this case you could try to challenge them by making your own map with the "authentic" song! (show it to me after if you like)),
I still recommend them as they are good in general (some of them are extraordinarily good).

[Unranked maps review(from other mappers)]

This is surely made with my subjective opinion.
I will randomly pick some maps from everywhere.

(reviews changing frequently)
[Other taiko simulator]
Other taiko simulator
I've played taiko in all the simulators listed in taiko time except Futoi Taiko no Tatsujin
(I also know well about the mechanism and features of them)

Let me explain more of other taiko simulators which is not written in taiko time website.
http://taikotime.blogspot.de/2013/05/feature-know-your-taiko-simulators.html

Taiko San jiro (太鼓さん次郎)
-is mainly for simulating AC14 or before
-supports loading mp3 if you do something more
-is still a popular simulator after jiro2 is out, since it has fewer system requirements

Taiko San jiro 2 (太鼓さん次郎2)
-is mainly for simulating new arcade/wii etc.

The two above is made by toach: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5463901 (official release page(Japanese))
Jiro community is big and there are many supporting/supplementary programs of various uses including graphical editors, notechart overview etc.
Jiro is popular in Japan, China and Taiwan

Taiko no Owatatsujin (太鼓のオワタツジン)
-has a result reporting function which is a distinctive feature (copy and pasting play result)
-is extremely convenient since you just need a web browser and flash plugin
-usually has no drum sounds(kats and dons), which makes the definition of good maps different from jiro/osu!taiko where there is drum sounds

It is made by S.K: http://www.geocities.jp/syun_k765/flash/owatatsu/ (official release page(Japanese))
It is not yet dead after jiro is released because the community is big (like this one: http://tera.zouri.jp/owata/ (Japanese))
It is mainly popular in Japan.

Taiko San-Nantoka (太鼓さんなんとか)
-is suspected that the program extracts data from wii (therefore it can be a complete replicate of wii)

It is made by AF, and it is not being officially released any more. The creator said that he's not releasing and updating it any more as there are too many people passing around authentic songs data which has caught attention

Futoi tsuzumi no Tatsujin (太い鼓の達人) [the pronunciation is not officially stated]
It is made by banan, http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm15578929 (video, the releasing link is broken now, you may want to check that later) using C language and DX library. And it is not being updated since 2011. I guess that program is meant to be a joke and challenges those who said "taiko is easy".

More about using songs to make taiko charts
Maybe you are not aware of that. Using songs to make taiko charts can be considered as a "derivative work".
(If you don't know the term "derivative work", search it in the net)
Posting a song elsewhere in the net without getting permission from the composer, rigorously speaking, is illegal in some sense.
And also, posting "authentic songs" from TnT with the "authentic note chart" is not really a derivative work. It is pure copying. That's even more serious than posting a custom map of a non-authentic song.
In Japan, people avoid posting data of authentic songs (they call them black songs)

I don't know the policy for osu! and I don't know if peppy has got some warnings from elsewhere. But I must say that the thing I mention here is in grey area in most cases.

All the simulators above only provide you with the gameplay frame, you have to customize it in order to make it more like "authentic" taiko. You can get the image files from many other websites.
[Gameplay goodies]
If you want the scroll field to be semi-transparent, download this and put it into the taiko skin folder :

[My maps (Unranked)]
(Filtered, only a part(~30%) of them is shown here, ask me if you want more)
Feel free to leave comments/criticisms on my maps (in this thread, PM or in-game-chat)

I mainly offer maps of songs from music games(IIDX/reflec beat) + trance etc. that does not have lyrics,
but actually I like touhou songs/Japanese songs too(not vocaloid though) (If you find a good song, please send me give me a request!)
And as you can see I mainly map higher difficulties (8-10★) for advanced players, which you may find annoying (in that case you could send me a request mapping lower course difficulties!)

All are Oni(おに) difficulty only unless specified
Sorted according to finish time (upper ones are latest for each genre)
*Songs which are both in IIDX and Reflec beat may be listed in either of the genre
Oni level rating roughly follows newest arcade scale

You can directly drag the .zip file to install the maps!

# all links are dead; will fix later. Meanwhile, if you really care, leave me a message

Mh. It's nice to see your own thread here. Now your Taiko list will be probably always up-to-date. Can't wait to play these maps.
