Using eyedrops is the best solution so you won't let your eyes get dry. Water also helps, but your eyes won't get that much tired if you use eyedrops.

I try to blink as much as I can while playing though.

Dude almost all taiko maps have no breaks ;_____; During long spinners maybe. But as you said, it ends up missing shit ton of notes.
i once tried pausing during a map (Unhappy Refrain Taiko diff + HR), there were only 30 seconds or so left and my eyes were burning so bad. i thought i could pause just for a second to blink.. well yeah.

I can blink during a 1/2 break or even during a stream :3
i rarely blink in Taiko, but thats because my eyes doesnt get tired that easy, i think
