[tablet player] Does anyone have periods of time where everything just feels... off?

I know, not very specific at all but I really don't know how to accurately describe this lol... but right now I'm currently undergoing an issue where everything regarding my aim just seems... wrong. Awkward. And the frustrating part of this is that I can't pinpoint the exact cause(s), whether it be: the positioning of my desk, wrist, chair, etc.; my pen grip; my tablet cover wearing out (i drag relatively hard); an issue with my tablet drivers, or; a mental barrier. And the list can go on and on...

I've essentially lost all of my aim consistency and am currently finding it incredibly difficult to FC maps nomod that are longer than like 2-3 minutes. My DT consistency has remained pretty much the same but even then it still feels very uncomfortable to aim some stuff. At the moment, HR is completely out of the question because I can barely aim NM in the first place.

This "issue" comes up in cycles, I've noticed, which makes me lean more towards this being a mental barrier. However, I often switch between two setups due to moving in and out of my university, so maybe just a lack of a long-term setup might have something to do with it.

Of course this isn't an issue that has an immediate solution so I'm not expecting any direct help; I'm making this post to see if any other tablet players have experienced this before, and if there's any advice that can be given so I can power through this situation because I can't lie it's pretty demoralizing...

Half of it is caused by a real issue such as something you mentioned including a difference in your grip or position, but half of it is caused by your head.

You think your aim is bad and your aiming poorly, which leads you to actually aim poorly. If you were to kind of ignore it (this is easier said than done) I'm sure half of your problems will go away since you thinking about it is just magnifying the initial problem.

Slightly different but I strongly recommend washing your hands before sessions. This leaves my hands in the ideal state for aim as they won't get sweaty for a while, and when they do I can just wash my hands again.

I'm a mouse player but

If you want more aim consistency you can always increase your tablet area.

A larger area means you wont press down as hard and your precision will increase.

Whats the real issue here, likee, does your hands feel less agile? Or like general discomfort or something? Like do you feel anything strange and on which areas?

Oh also area and how you currently position your hands

Just be normal and do what you usually do and it will go away probably

Ngl for me, when it's been several days since I played the game and that I want to go back, I don't feel like my hand's adapting to my tablet BUT after a few minutes of play, everything's back to normal

that is probably called rusting

i didn't play for a few days and then derust again

Like I mentioned before, the issue isn't something I can exactly identify, other than it feeling really uncomfortable to aim pretty much anywhere within my area in general. Of course it's more awkward to hit stuff in the corners of my area but I think that's common for most tablet players, but I'm also just missing really trivial stuff anywhere in my area that isn't aim demanding. I've played with pretty much this same area for two years - I've tweaked the dimensions of it a bit over time, but the position of my area has remained the same.

My current area is kinda small but it's what I've pretty much always used:

Regarding my hand position, I just use a standard pen grip with the side of my hand resting on the tablet, and my wrist/forearm resting on my mousepad (peep my goofy tablet cover):

It's not even bad days, it's just that you're so rusty that you feel like your tablet is... not right

It's happened to me a few times. It's not me being rusty, it's not me changing playstyle, it's just that sometimes everything feels off and it lasts for a few days to a few weeks. Recently it's happened to my tapping which destroyed my ability to alternate anything above around 200bpm, which is a big problem because I'm horrible at single-tapping. My aim's been dragged down along with my tapping as well. I'm hoping that after a long break I'll be able to relearn how to play the game again.

I'm guessing what happens is that I'll randomly change a small aspect of my mechanics/muscle-memory or forget an aspect of my mechanics/muscle-memory which throws everything out of whack because suddenly something's different and I can't tell what. It might be worse because you frequently change where you play.

Ngl I have no advice, I don't exactly remember how I got out of these funks. Maybe try and be more conscious of your mechanics and the position of your tablet/hand so you can consciously replicate it, then again overthinking this stuff probably just makes it worse lol.

You are a better player and have more experience than me so you have probably tried more things but just in case... I swear to all the gods above, my aim consistency went up the roof after I followed the shockingly simple steps outlined in this reddit guide.

Note: This fix is for Windows 10 users. More importantly, this could very well be placebo, but I'm still interested if it helps you out in any noticeable way at all.

if it feels off, focusing on aim and cursor fixes it for me. same as getting used to differend setting but usually faster, if you didn't change anyting.
