As I know, it is possible to install Windows Server operating systems on a laptop and desktop. Is it possible to install workstation Windows (Windows 7, Vista, 8) on servers?
Marcin
Why wouldn't it? As long as the CPU architecture is x86, you can install ANY operating system. Server versions of windows (and linux) are used because of their tools which make server admin life easier (and also their features)

Oh really? I did have a plan (maybe in 5-6 years time while getting enough money to get a decent server) to do folding at home... but i don't really like Windows Server very much...

i hate Ubuntu....
Just kidding, but I only use it to copy files from a Windows computer to other hard disk as Linux did not follow Windows file and folder permissions...

Why do you want to install a (pretty bloated for a server) workstation Windows on a server anyway
Copying files from Windows to Linux isn't really a problem for me at all, even for many years, except for ".files" in which Windows still can somewhat accept them

1) server does not accept free antivirus
2) gaming is not very good on Windows Server
3) I HATE MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS
Overall i actually like Windows Server for that speed but the three reasons above caused me to drop Windows Server...

I misphrased my post previously....
My meaning is I use Linux to copy out files as I do system recovery and sometimes I can't access the files through Windows easily (password protected or infested with viruses). Linux simplifies it and I can copy just any files from the password-protected account or infested hard disk files...

1. Why would you need antivirus on server?!
2. Why would you play on server station?!
3. It is pretty nice actually?!

Probably you haven't had this experience yet...
==>Plug in a drive that contains an autorun and a virus inside
==>MSE detects it
==>Threats have been resolved
==>It says "no action taken" WTF???

Tested on Win32/Brontok (and some others)...
