instead of making multiple posts, i decided ill just make one with all the questions i have
also if anyone does answer my questions, could u put the number of the question next to your answer??

1. how do i improve my aim? i can barely do 4.5-5 star jumps and i feel like i could have made many 100 pp plays by now, also kind demotivating when i cant hit anything

2. is it ok to play both mouse and tablet, maybe even touchpad, all at the same time? would my aim suffer on all of them because im not focusing on one playstyle?

3. how many hours a week should i try to play for?

4. is there anything i lose by playing with nofail? like skill?

5. r there any benefits to playing with mods early game beyond pp? i heard hidden is a good thing to learn early but not sure about hd, dt, flashlight, etc.

6. should i be playing maps with easy mod on?

7. how do i learn to read better?

8. should i care about how much pp i have? if not, when should i start caring about it and making some good plays?

9. what can i learn by playing short and long maps?

10. should i be playing difficulties out of my range with nofail? (basically any map i need nofail to play on). i do enjoy playing some maps like some touhou songs made by demetori but unfortunately, i cant pass them without nf but i can a couple b ranks on them

11. how does one master finger control? like stamina, making low amounts of 100, 50s and misses, getting some epic combos (i cant get any at all D:), etc

12. is there a way i can find songs that r specifically jump maps, stream maps, maps with bursts, etc?

13. should i play maps until i s or ss them?

14. what do i do when i get bored of playing the difficulty i should be playing at and want to go play some way higher diff maps?

15. how do i tap faster, and is there anything bad about using my laptops keyboard for osu? i should also mention that i sometimes tap my clicking keys (currently a and z) on my keyboard but i dont actually push it down so nothing happens.

16. would playing osu help me be better in real life and other games? if so, in what ways would i be better?

17. what do golden and silver s/ss mean? also on one or a couple of my skins, the s/ss becomes an x? would like to know the difference

18. how does hp work? like how do i know how much i have and how fast it drains? and how do i learn to play maps with both low hp and fast drain rate?

19. i hear there r certain tapping techniques (?), can someone explain to me a few of them and what using them can let me do?

1. idk I suck at aim myself so I can't help you there

2. It depends on whether you are playing for fun or are playing to improve fast. Playing with multiple aim inputs at the same time will probably cause your aim to improve slower overall than if you were to focus on one. But if you are just playing for fun keep doing what you're doing.

3. This is up to you and your schedule and how much time you can dedicate to playing. If you have loads of free time, my advice is to play as much as you can until you start getting burned out/playing worse and then you stop then. Also stop playing if you have any pain/discomfort or start tilting etc.

4. The only thing you lose out on by playing with nofail is the 50% ranked score multiplier. Although, if you're playing maps that you need to use NF on, they may be too hard for you to play properly so I wouldn't use it too much unless you are playing for fun.

5. you can play whatever mods you want to play when you want to play them, saying that you can "only play x mod at x rank" is just dumb. That being said, make sure that you can read NM first and don't play too much DT and HR because you don't want to forced into only being able to read high AR and not being able to read ar9.

6. idk up to you, ez is honestly a mod that you could reach #1 with without ever playing it at all plus it's only practical use is in a few select tournaments which have ez pools as it gives you no PP and 50% of ranked score. You can play it if you find it fun though.

7. idk I'm not a reading player.

8. Don't let it get to your head, once you start worrying about how much pp you have the game gets a lot less fun.

9. Short maps are usually better than long maps for pushing skill (at the same SR) and the diffspikes are almost always harder, but long maps are better for gaining stamina/consistency. Play both.

10. see #4

11. Download every map with the "breakcore", "mashcore", "lolicore", or "speedcore" tag. Good luck!

12. I think batch beatmap downloader has options for this.

13. If you're only focusing on skill don't worry about SSs at all, once you FC a map you can move onto the next or a different mod combo.

14. Play what's fun for you. This is a game after all.

15. not a speed player so I can't help you here but mechanical keyboards are simply objectively better than laptop keyboards/membrane

16. no

17. Silver S/SSs mean you have Sed or SSed the map with HD/and/or/FL and golden S/SSs mean you have Sed or SSed a map without HD/and/or/FL. X is just a skin thing that can mean something different depending on the skin

18. not an expert on this but when you hit notes with good accuracy is goes against the drain but when you miss notes or get low accuracy it drains faster. For maps with high HP you just kind of have to deal with failing it sometimes there's not much you can do other than just not fail

19. idk but in general you want to tap lighter

I'm not by any means pro, but i'll try to answer some of the questions.

1. how do i improve my aim? i can barely do 4.5-5 star jumps and i feel like i could have made many 100 pp plays by now, also kind demotivating when i cant hit anything
It comes naturally, you have to play more. For me, my aim and consistency improved and I went up 200k ranks in a month after I started playing easier maps and focusing on accuracy instead of going for maps that I could pass with A-B rank and a few misses.

2. is it ok to play both mouse and tablet, maybe even touchpad, all at the same time? would my aim suffer on all of them because im not focusing on one playstyle? It's gonna definitely be harder if you try to learn all the playstyles at the same time. Not impossible, but it will surely slow your progress.

3. how many hours a week should i try to play for?
It's not that deep, play whenever you feel like it.

4. is there anything i lose by playing with nofail? like skill?
If you have to play with nofail, you are probably playing way too hard maps for your current skill level and are not learning much.

5. r there any benefits to playing with mods early game beyond pp? i heard hidden is a good thing to learn early but not sure about hd, dt, flashlight, etc.
Can't answer this one, I messed up my reading on low AR maps by playing too much HDHR.

6. should i be playing maps with easy mod on?
Easy mod actually makes a lot of maps harder than they are, if that's a playstyle you want to go for sure. I've heard it can be a lot of fun.

7. how do i learn to read better?
You just have to play more

8. should i care about how much pp i have? if not, when should i start caring about it and making some good plays?
I mean, getting PP on this game is fun but it's nothing to stress about I guess. If you improve in OSU you will naturally gain pp.

9. what can i learn by playing short and long maps?
Long maps are good for your overall consistency, im pretty sure short maps don't have any benefits over long maps.

10. should i be playing difficulties out of my range with nofail? (basically any map i need nofail to play on). i do enjoy playing some maps like some touhou songs made by demetori but unfortunately, i cant pass them without nf but i can a couple b ranks on them
You should be playing something out of your skillrange sometimes and challange yourself, but playing maps way out of your skill level all the time is not gonna help you improve. Like let's say you can pass map with a C/B rank without nofail, you can try those maps sometimes.

11. how does one master finger control? like stamina, making low amounts of 100, 50s and misses, getting some epic combos (i cant get any at all D:), etc
Just have to play more.

12. is there a way i can find songs that r specifically jump maps, stream maps, maps with bursts, etc?
For me, I go to youtube and type "X star stream maps" etc and there is usually a list combined by someone and I find atleast a few good maps.

13. should i play maps until i s or ss them?
If you want to improve consistency, then yes. Going for SS is a bit overkill, but high 95+ accuracy S is something you should aim for.

14. what do i do when i get bored of playing the difficulty i should be playing at and want to go play some way higher diff maps?

15. how do i tap faster, and is there anything bad about using my laptops keyboard for osu? i should also mention that i sometimes tap my clicking keys (currently a and z) on my keyboard but i dont actually push it down so nothing happens.
I mean you can improve and get good with any keyboard, but a mechanical keyboard is a huge upgrade if you intend to play osu longer.

16. would playing osu help me be better in real life and other games? if so, in what ways would i be better?
Not really.

17. what do golden and silver s/ss mean? also on one or a couple of my skins, the s/ss becomes an x? would like to know the difference
Silver means you have hidden mod on and gold means regular.

19. i hear there r certain tapping techniques (?), can someone explain to me a few of them and what using them can let me do?
Well for OSU you can either singletap or alternate. When you singletap, it literally means you are pressing either only Z/X to hit the notes except for streams/triples/bursts, and if you full alternate you use both keys for everything. Getting speed with singletapping is harder, but for some it helps with accuracy. There are a lot of different techniques though, I just went over the two most common ones. It's all a preference.
kujubuo
1. play harder maps
2. just go for one playstyle i think
3. your choice
4. there is a lot of times where i gained skill while i still used nf lol. just dont go for any map lower than 70% acc and you are fine
5.nope hidden sucks
6. not this early but your choice
7.play more
8. your choice
9. short maps dont really improve anything that much. while farming only thing you will learn is farming and if you arent even farming while playing shory maps it just wont work out you wont improve at all.
10. yea
11. play more
12. usually longer maps have them
13. your choice but i would say play until you a rank unless you wanna farm
14. play harder maps or take break when you are bored
15. play more
16.no

1. It comes naturally by improving your consistency and your reading in general
2. Nah, if you have one play style it's already good
3. As long as you can!
4. Nofail won't make you lose skill if you plays maps that look doable for you
5. Yes, you can try to familiarize yourself with the mods
6. Yes!
7. By playing maps with high or low approach rate for you until you're able to read
8. It doesn't matter BUT it depends entirely on you!
9. Usually, when people play short maps, they play for PP. Playing long maps is more for the aspect of getting better at consistency, stamina and so one
10. Yes, but only if it looks doable for you!
11. By playing finger control maps of course
12. Yes, there are maps for that
13. If you already feel pround about your score, it doesn't matter!
14. You're bored of playing the difficulty, try to play other maps OR simply take a break
15. By playing maps with high BPM, regardless of the type of keyboard, there is always a way to get better despite everything (but if you feel like your keyboard is broken, try to buy another one of course)
16. It can improve your ability to read on FPS games for example
17. It's a silver S/SS when there's no Hidden and/or Flashlight FC (or without misses if you sliderbreaks), otherwise it's a golden S/SS
18. The more you do 1x100, 1x50 or misses, the more the HP will go down; to gain HP you must combo, get 1x300 or spin on a spinner (I also specify that it depends on the difficulty of the map HP)
19. Everyone has a typing technique that suit them better to click on the circles, use only the one that suits you too!
MrSparklepants
1. Aim is probably the easiest skill to improve at, just play more

2. Yes it is ok, however, I would suggest learn the fundamentals with only one peripheral first, and then if you want to start playing with both. I sometimes play on mouse whenever I'm bored.

3. Whatever amount you want, but if you're looking for improvement I don't have a specific time, but try to get 2000-4000 playcount every month. Doing that I almost hit 4 digit in late 2021-early 2022

4. If you absolutely can not pass the map I wouldn't suggest even playing it with NF, but if you die to one or two parts in the map then I would say use NF. You'll gain absolutely nothing if you playing a map you can't even play at all

5. In my opinion, mods are preference. However, if you want to become a tournament player it is good to play every mod including nomod, but early on I would stick with nomod until you can read AR9 with an of OD8+ comfortably on longer maps

6. EZ is just preference, if you want to have good reading on lower ARs play with EZ. However not many players can play EZ and it is seen as impressive to a lot of players.

7. It Depends on what type of reading, for low AR play EZ, for normal reading just every type of map, and for high AR play with DT until you can read like AR 10.5 and then try out DTHR for AR11 (you have a long time before getting here though)

8. Just enjoy the game, I personally don't like having farm maps in my top plays (unless I randomly get them from playing newly ranked maps). Your main goal should be having fun, make some personal goals such as FCing a map or surpassing a certain player.

9. I don't know much about short maps, but longer maps help you with consistency and stamina.

10. Yes, it's good to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone, you can even set a goal to pass the map without NF and eventually FC the map

11. Play more maps (and alternate if you so choose)

12. Here is a website to search for collections https://osucollector.com/

13. I personally do not, I try to get 98% and then I don't worry about the map unless I want to play it for fun

14. Go on and play some hard maps, it's a game, enjoy yourself.

15. Push the BPM you can play comfortably, for the time being playing on your laptop keyboard shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I would look into getting a mechanical keyboard if you plan on spending hundreds or thousands of hours on the game

16. Probably not, at most you'll probably have a slightly faster reaction time, but even then it's not guaranteed
17. Gold S/SS are when someone plays without HD or FL and silver is when someone plays with either HD or FL. As for the X it's something some skinners put in their skins (some other rhythm game probably uses X's or something)

18. You know how much HP you have depending on the maps HP variable, the higher the number the less HP you have and HP does passively drain whenever you're just playing the map. Whenever you hit a note, slider, or spinner (HP depends on whether it's a 300, 100, or 50 on all 3) your HP goes up and when you miss a note, slider, or spinner your HP goes down. (this is a simplified version, but I think it touches everything you need to know)

19. Depends on what you're talking about. Some players single tap, some players alternate sometimes, and some players fully alternate. Some players play with their index and middle finger while other players play with their index and ring finger (there are other finger combos but most players use the two I just mentioned). Then everyone has their own hand position when tapping, tapping techniques are really just preference and it would be best to just make your own that suits your playstyle.

(Probably got some things wrong, but this is just the advice of someone with 1,800 hours in the game)
Radi7002
1.play harder aim map or practice reading(depends on your problem/weak side)and dont retry spam it,you need consistent aim than aim for specific map.

2.i dont think your aim will suffer, but it will suffer when you adapting to it.(change device)

3.depend on you, just play for a long section then decide when your peak at,and just aim for for that long.

4.depends on the map and your current skill level, play too high star(like getting D rank) map might ruin your consistench

5.idk about hidden, but playing dt for sure improve your speed and reading on high ar

6.if you had fun when playing it,why not?

7.play a map that is not comfortable to read and play at different ar(lower or higher than your usual play)

8.this topic is too complicated too write, basically if you get better score you gain pp and seeing pp makes you still competitive which is good as long it didnt make you frustrated

9.short map good for pushing skill and long map good for consistency and stamina.Play both and keep it balance(or just improving with long map and get consistent like tourney player

10.as long its not always at 0 hp,i guess its ok to practice with nf

11.play finger control or you can just practice alternate,i believe alternate could improve finger control.

12.idk,i usually know what type of map it is by hearing the music

13.fc is a good goal,i dont know about aiming ss. But if you dont have the feel to play the map, just dont play it. Getting rng fc is kinda frustrating

14.idk,if i got bored i just play multiplayer and competing with them

15.just play faster map(i actually face this issue myself,i just play faster map and it somehow increase my stream speed,im not sure if this help though since cant do speed thing)

16.probably good at osu making you good at other games,i dont have proof but i think it could help other games somehow(i just believed good at other game could help with another game)

17.s/ss silver means you S/SS rank it with silver, while x is basically ss

18.hp drains constantly, when you hit the note correctly,it agains the constant drain. Some map has lower drain rate yet its hard to fight the drain and i dont understand why

19.there are mostly 2 type of tapping, The single tap and the alternate one. Sigle tap is you pressing the key without changing the key input(jack hammer) while alternate is pressing the key alternately between 2 key input. In some case there are someone just use both, even though i used this before i dont even know why i did it,it just feels natural to tap it.
If you mean about the hand position,it all just preference, you could try to copy top player but dont force to use it. The comfortable one is always better

Hope this will help and good luck

1. how do i improve my aim? i can barely do 4.5-5 star jumps and i feel like i could have made many 100 pp plays by now, also kind demotivating when i cant hit anything

simply play more maps, and remember to challenge yourself when you feel like the maps you're playing is getting too easy to one try fc

2. is it ok to play both mouse and tablet, maybe even touchpad, all at the same time? would my aim suffer on all of them because im not focusing on one playstyle?

this ties to the previous question actually, it really hard to build aim consistency when you switch playstyle like that, it's better to stick to one that you're comfortable

3. how many hours a week should i try to play for?

i don't have the exact number but you should prob play at least one every two days and try to fc at least one map per play section (it doesn't even have to be too hard just fc literally anything) (of course that's the bare minimum if you don't wanna get rusty and it's gonna better if you can play more (up to a point))

4. is there anything i lose by playing with nofail? like skill?

nah, as long as you don't use it to pass maps way beyond your comfort zone

5. r there any benefits to playing with mods early game beyond pp? i heard hidden is a good thing to learn early but not sure about hd, dt, flashlight, etc.

as a new player it's gonna be better if you stick to nomod first, just to build your fundamentals, all the other mods (except for hr on [Easy] and [Normal] diffs) can easily turn you into a 1 trick player if you're not careful

6. should i be playing maps with easy mod on?

as i said above, picking up mods early on can turn you into a 1 trick player, easy is no exception, and trust me you do NOT wanna be an ez one-trick, im speaking from experience

7. how do i learn to read better?

(i assume you mean low ar reading here)

a)break big patterns down to smaller patterns (it's gonna be easier for you to process everything)
b)use the song to time your hits
c)play more maps to expand your pattern library

8. should i care about how much pp i have? if not, when should i start caring about it and making some good plays?

pp is cringe don't care about it

9. what can i learn by playing short and long maps?

the way i see it is:

short maps are a test if you can hit the patterns (or for clip farming lol)

long maps are a test if you can hit the patterns consistently

10. should i be playing difficulties out of my range with nofail? (basically any map i need nofail to play on). i do enjoy playing some maps like some touhou songs made by demetori but unfortunately, i cant pass them without nf but i can a couple b ranks on them

i just answer the question a bit earlier lol, if i was you i would use the ht mod on the maps you can b rank, ht is a mod that's hard to 1-trick cuz it's plays just like nomod imo tho the low bpm streams and the lower ar might caught you of guard

11. how does one master finger control? like stamina, making low amounts of 100, 50s and misses, getting some epic combos (i cant get any at all D:), etc

(not gonna answer this question cuz i suck at finger control lol but i feel like the answer is still gonna be play more)

12. is there a way i can find songs that r specifically jump maps, stream maps, maps with bursts, etc?

you can go to funorange's osu collector site and search for maps like that, just search it up and you'll see the site

13. should i play maps until i s or ss them?

s rank, ss is too overkill imo unless you wanna be an acc player

14. what do i do when i get bored of playing the difficulty i should be playing at and want to go play some way higher diff maps?

well just, play the harder maps lol, maybe like 0.2-0.5* stars above your comfort zone?
15. how do i tap faster, and is there anything bad about using my laptops keyboard for osu? i should also mention that i sometimes tap my clicking keys (currently a and z) on my keyboard but i dont actually push it down so nothing happens.

i use a laptop keyboard too and yeah you can tap fast on it, just play more burst maps first and try not to tap too hard

16. would playing osu help me be better in real life and other games? if so, in what ways would i be better?

no

17. what do golden and silver s/ss mean? also on one or a couple of my skins, the s/ss becomes an x? would like to know the difference

silver is when you get the score with hd or fl

the x looks cool for some people so they use it i guess, nothing too deep about it

18. how does hp work? like how do i know how much i have and how fast it drains? and how do i learn to play maps with both low hp and fast drain rate?

19. i hear there r certain tapping techniques (?), can someone explain to me a few of them and what using them can let me do?

single-tap: tapping with one button execpt for stream, it gives you more control

alternate: tapping with two buttons, basically streaming but for everything, it gives you more stamina

xooty's alternate: you single-tap but you switch which button you single-tap which every few secound, no idea what benefit it gives tho

tapx: (for tablet user only) you tap with both your tablet and your keyboard, can give you lots of speed but require a LOT of control

clickx: same thing with tapx but for mouse user
